Theory time! We know that every SQUIP is linked to another right? I believe someone in Eminem's entourage was SQUIPed and that the SQUIP told Eminem's friend to leave a hockey stick in a favorable place to boost the odds of Eminem dying. This way Jeremy's SQUIP gets what he wants by making Jeremy gain Brooke's sympathy and Eminem's friend's SQUIP furthers his plans of becoming the new Eminem.

There are so many great character moments in the animation! My favorite is 7:00 Jeremy reaches out his hand to the SQUIP and rather than take it, the SQUIP reaches his hand out too. This forces Jeremy to take the SQUIP's hand rather than the other way around. It's a little moment but it reinforces who's in control. Jeremy thinks he's making a decision but ultimately it's the SQUIP that's calling all of the shots.
