Thanks for sharing your experiences with your laser. I’m sure I’m going to be learning a lot more from you once I get into doing this kind of stuff.

No problem Jamie, the one your getting has all the bells and whistles. I’m sure you will hit the ground running.

great way to keep soot out of your lens also. look into cloudray PVD USA made coated lens. that laser will be nice and tight with detailed work

Good advice. If I ever get the desktop laser I want, air assist will have to be a priority!

Yeah the default air assist was pretty much useless.

I have the same control unit as this and I am going to follow this, I bought some diodes but you didn't use any do I need them? I got near similiar solenoid the one listed on the website is not avalible for me in th uk so I search and got pretty much the same one its a 2 way normally closed only difference is on the site is 2V025-06 and mine is CE IP65 other than that they are identical

Nice! Good luck with it! I don’t remember any mention of diodes.

@@4m05 After checking the parts list I remember this now. My machine came with the diode and connector mentioned so I did not need to purchase. At least that’s what I remember. The diode was already tied to the connector. Good luck!

@@WhiteysWickedWorkshop I have the same controller as you, I dont need the connecter in the kt332n as its there but couldnt figure out if I need a diode in it, I put a diode in each solenoid do you think it will damage the solenoid if it doesnt need it?

Hi, I have an omtech 2028 mf, can I just buy another pump and use two small air pumps?
@WhiteysWickedWorkshop
@WhiteysWickedWorkshop 3 ай бұрын
I'm not sure I guess it would have to be big enough to give you enough volume to receive a constant flow of air to keep the laser path clear. Two small pumps might not give you enough. Good luck

I'm normally into tinkering and stuff, spent unfathomable hours with the 3d printers but this is just a pain, honestly. Spent like 4 grand on this thing, used it the last week after not using it for a year and now my air assist is like a whisper and production has halted. Kind of annoying. My question is, there is a hole on the back for an air inlet? Can I just buy an air compressor from my local hardware shop and hook that up to that tube on the back for now? I can manually turn it on or all of I need and just do engraving/cutting on different layers....for now. I will do this, but I just want to focus on production not tinkering at the moment and I'm searching for the fastest fix I can.

Yeah your right , only downfall is it will always be blowing until you manually turn it off. Adding this solenoid isn’t really that difficult and you won’t have to mess with it again. I always have my air compressor on and it runs to keep the pressure. The laser sits here when not in use and I can fire it up start etching /cutting and it’s automatic. If you forget to turn on the compressed air you will be making failed cuts/etches. And you will forget I promise you. So it’s up to you! 😊

@@WhiteysWickedWorkshop I hear you and yeah I agree that it's going to happen, I already know it will. Last night was long and ended with a fizzle, I just wanted to keep cutting to finish my project but this morning I'm thinking that the job should just be done properly so that's the way forward.

Thanks for the great video.. I'm curious, why did you route the tubing to the outside of the laser vs through the internals of it?
@WhiteysWickedWorkshop
@WhiteysWickedWorkshop Жыл бұрын
My only reason is because of the innards for the up down movement of the bed, I didn’t want it to wear on any of the gears so opted to move it away from them. The tubing is protected underneath the machine and that side of the laser. 2nd reason was for speed because I was dying to try it out to see if it would correct my burning issue.

Air Assist before Exhaust?

If your questions is which to purchase first, most importantly you need exhaust to get it out of your house/garage.

Why 2 solenoids valves?
@WhiteysWickedWorkshop
@WhiteysWickedWorkshop Жыл бұрын
As quoted from the website “ two (2) solenoids which allow Lightburn settings to control air flow for both high pressure (laser cutting) and low pressure (laser engraving). The user does not have to turn the air off when not in use because the second solenoid is turning it on and off based on your Lightburn settings.”

Which software interface are you talking about? You can use multiple. Inkscape is free and Light Burn is the Standard in laser tech.
