@@lucaslee3868 updates do come in just like on a supported machine. So far only for a major release (22H2, 23H2,...) additional action was needed.

After the upgrade I had to install and turn on .Net 3.5 on my computer to get the latest 24H2 cumulative update as it was never installed from the 3rd party I purchased my computer from. What a great and helpful video! For some reason my not very old Lenovo X1 Yoga with Win11 and all the required hardwear just stopped updating at 21H2 in October and I noticed it first now. At first I looked into Microsoft’s pages, but became only very confused. The problem seemed to be just too demanding for me to solve on my own (I’m 65 and not super tech savvy). But after watching this video a couple of times I realised it is totally doable because the instructions are so clear. And so it was! Everything went exactly like in the video, and now I have 24H2, just like that. Thank you so much for youf help - you must be an IT angel! ❤

You are awesome mate - I had 22H2 and it was telling me update service for the version is no longer available. Honestly why Microsoft makes it so difficult even I had all the requirement for it. @jensdbe - thank you again. To note: KB5043178 or KB5043080 might not install. I downloaded these manually from the Microsoft download center. And applied these myself. KB5043080 first. Then the other one. Hope this helps someone in the same situation.

Worked perfectly on 12/10/24 upgrading from 23H2 to 24H2, just as with previous method from this channel upgrading from W1022H2 to 23H2. CPU is i3 4170. Didn't work on AMD E-350 which supports POPCNT but only with SSE4a, which predates SSE4.2. Look forward to seeing how to upgrade to 25H2 (or W12) next year.

@@jensdbe I did the upgrade and it was a success! (from what i gather now). Though for some reason, I could not run the media creation tool on my PC (there was an error). So I tried downloading the iso directly from microsoft. And lo and behold, it work just as well! Thank you so much for your videos. Two thumbs up! 🙏

Thanks for sharing this. method. I had seen two other methods described on KZbin, which involved using 3rd party tools and hacking dll files etc. That all left me a little anxious TBH. I found that the 24h2 ISO file was a compressed file. I could not right click on it from the example above to mount it. It gave me a few choice to open the compressed file so I opened it with Explorer and it mounted automatically. From there I opened the Command Prompt and put in the proper command setup / product server and then hit enter and it loaded 24h2! 😉

This method works, but after upgrading from 23H2 to 24H2, Google Chrome and Electron applications sometimes flicker for 1ms, which is annoying. This never happened on 23H2. The video card drivers are up to date (my laptop has an Intel HD Graphics 520 integrated video card). I just rolled back to 23H2 and now the flickering problem is gone. Anyway, thanks for the great video!

My i76700hq processor did not support 11, so I updated by bypassing it. The version I am using is "Windows 11 Home Single Language" and right now I am getting a warning saying "The service period for your Windows product has expired" during the update. Your version is "Windows 11 Home". Will I have a problem if I install like you?

The install went as shown but afterwards, my SSD showed an error that Chkdsk /r could not fix. I am trying to update a W11 image I use on my staff PCs but after the upgrade of the image it will no longer push (successfully) to a machine. The 23H2 image can be put back on the machine and it has no SSD error. I tried on multiple machines and they all ended with the SSD error or would not boot at all. Thoughts? I would like to be able to upgrade my staff images (and machines) without a complete reinstall.

I found my right click wouldn't give me the "mount" option, so I downloaded WinCDEmu to mount the ISO.

At 7:39, the option "Keep files, settings, and apps" is grayed out. What do I do?

@lucasszzs the reason why it is greyed out should be at the bottom of that windows. The most common reason is a language mismatch between your installation and the ISO.

I am trying to upgrade from 21H2 and followed the instruction but it still fails at the checking phase and not getting to the accepting license phase. Even thoughI have used the /product server option. The error message: Setup has encountered a critical error. Sorry we are having trouble determining if your PC can run Windows Server. Error code 0x80888002 - 0x40008 What is wrong? I have earlier converted the the disk MBR to GPT with mbr2gpt.exe. Could that be related< But the OS could boot without any issue thereafter.

If the option is missing from the menu when you right click, you probably have a different default application set to handle .ISO files (like 7Zip, WinRAR,...). In that case, just right click the file and choose Open with > Windows Explorer, that should mount the ISO-file as well.

Hey there! I've been watching your videos for a while now, more than a year to be exact. I used your tutorials to install Windows 11 in my old Pentium processor laptop and let me tell you, the feeling was phenomenal. I also installed the 23H2 version of it in my Ryzen 5 2400G processor desktop. Now, my actual question is this: Is it worth it to download and install 24H2 in my desktop? Like, is there any major improvements, or any new features that's actually good? If yes, then I'm gonna continue to download and install 24H2 in my desktop. Otherwise, I might just stick with my 23H2 version. Anyways, great video as always. Thanks for the beautiful tutorial. Keep doing the good work!

Personally, although I did upgrade to document it and show in a video, I don't really see the added value. The family-computer here at home is still at 23H2, which did had a few nice small improvements for me. 23H2, for now at least, seems to work just fine and still gets security patches etc. so don't bother if you're not into one of the new features.
