Great video. There's a video with Pitchford demonstrating his flick. He closes the paddle a lot more. Of course, he is among the best in the world 🙂. For those who don't have a wheel contraption, use an empty water bottle with a ball on top (remove the cap). Brush the ball off without knocking the bottle down. Don't remember where I saw this, but I found it a great way to develop spin.
@PechPongTT2 жыл бұрын
That’s an awesome way to learn! I may use that thanks for the idea. Yeah pitchford creates great speed and is very precise I think as a player improves they can slowly close the angle little by little to get more direct linear speed speed

Dignics 05 and Tibhar Mk are both great options, they have long dwell time and good spin which is perfect for flipping, you give up ease of blocking because they hold the ball and don’t “bounce” off the racket but it’s a trade off.

Great video as usual. I am watching your videos and maybe I just didn't see this yet but I wanted to get your views on grip switching when switching from forehand to backhand and vice versa. I have seen Sun Yingsha and many other high level players do this. Currently I play with fixed grip but I think my backhand suffers due to this.
@PechPongTT2 жыл бұрын
Hey good question yeah I would say a small change in grip is not a bad thing you just have to get very good at switching from the two and also get used to hitting shots while being in the other grip backhand grip while hitting forehand because inevitably it will happen and you want to be able to put the ball in play and not lose the point. Hope that helps :)

Good video! How do you hold the racket for the backhand, and where does your thumb go? Also, do you always try to contact the ball in front of you? What if it moves too much to your left side?
@PechPongTT2 жыл бұрын
Wow good questions, the thumb should go a little up if you watch fanzhendong or Harimotto they both have the thumb pointing upwards for backhand, if the ball goes wide you really need to learn to move sideways you must contact the ball on the outer left side and try to make as good a stroke as you can if you cannot move enough fan does a really good job of this if you watch his matches he is able to make a great stroke on the ball even though he is moving and it’s on his left side. I try to contact in front of my every time, but I have a tendency to reach for the ball too far in front so it’s about waiting until the ball gets a bit closer so you have leverage and are not reaching so much.

Fantastic stuff, one of my biggest fears is flipping the ball, you pin pointed my error, which is to attack hard and fast with a closed bat, which fails 90% of the time meaning I simply just push these days, now I try to push short then long to try and get a weak shot to attack, not good enough really and ends up being a push to the death. Great, I’ll try opening my bat, maybe my confidence will return to take the shot. Thanks.

@PechPongTT2 жыл бұрын
If any it would be heavy underspin and dead serves, mixing them long medium long and short in different locations of the table. It keeps the spin clean as it’s hard for the opponent to do much sidespin returns. While those combos I mentioned will have enough variety to really change up the dynamics of the points and keep them uneasy. Everyone is different but I like to use those against basically everyone

Hi, your videos are very good and usefull. I have one question and maybe your explanation can help other people. I am an intermediate player, started playing very soon, was little older and backhand flick is very difficult for me. Some young proffesional players need some years to manage backhand flick. I am good in backhand push and I always decide to use it when the balls come short to my backhand side. Is it wrong, must I learn backhand flick to be better player? Sometimes when I decide to return serve with backhand flick, I convert backspin to topspin and it is easier for my opponent to win the point, because it is easier for him to return my topspin than backspin (if I return the ball with push). Best regards, Toni
@PechPongTT Жыл бұрын
You dont have to learn how to backhand flip, I would learn how to flip when they do topspin serves to the backhand because it can be hard to push those but all the other serves you can push, if you have a good defense you can play very high level like this, when I went to sweden 90% of the players are pushing the ball except for tospin serves and long serves. best of luck!
