I had no idea a backup recording was possible when using the EXH-6. This feels like finding money. Thank you!

Hi, I own the H5 and H8. If I may correct on one thing, with the EXH6 attached you have two independent inputs and not a stereo pair. So that gives you 4 independent channels. Like your review and great piece of kit. If I miss heard your comments my apologies.

@@DIYVideoStudio One of the advantages of the original XYH5 capsule is its P2 stereo line input. If you can't set up this EXH 6 to use the independent inputs for stereo recording mode, and use it to microphone, for example, two speakers that are outputting stereo audio, will the H5 record in mono?

Thanks for sharing. When using the EXH with the Zoom H5 if only using one input will it be panned? depending on which side of the capsule it's plugged into either left or right? or will it be in dual mono? thanks

The audio will only be recorded to the channel you are plugged into. If you want a dual mono file, the easiest solution is to get an XLR Y-splitter cable. Plug the two legs into each of the inputs on the EXH-5 capsule and plug your mic (or mic cable) into the single end of the Y-splitter. I often did that on Inputs 1 and 2 before getting the EXH-5. I know you can mix Inputs 1 & 2 to mono (when using Stereo mode) but my H5 recorder seems to also automatically add some kind of limiting, which I don't want.

Does it allow the recording of a backup track with a -12dB signal, similar to the L/R capsule? Thanks!
@DIYVideoStudio9 ай бұрын
Yes. The combo capsule uses the same input as the L/R stereo pair, so if you have enabled In L/R Backup in the REC menu screen, your -12dB backup track will also be created when you replace the stereo pair with the combo capsule.

@@DIYVideoStudio Thanks, but I figured out to buy an XLR to 3.5 cable and plug it into a 3.5 jack on the LR capsule. I use a Sennheiser ME66 K6, which has phantom power from an AA battery.

The capsule does not produce phantom power. but does it work with plugin power?

I've just tried this using an XLR to 3.5mm TRS adapter and a Lav mic that requires plugin power. Unfortunately, it didn't work.
