You’re making it very tempting to pick up another one. I just received it in maybe two weeks ago. I am really digging the mods you’ve made.

Looks great, only thing I don't like is the water bottle pockets INSIDE the bag, makes it a pain to access the water bottles if you are not running a bladder and it limits the space inside the pack when the bottles are inserted ( I have an Osprey with similar pockets and they greatly reduce the inside space)

They are not dedicated water bottle pockets only. You can stuff anything in the interior pockets that will fit. We are making exterior canteen/bottle pockets soon that will attach to the MOLLE.

Close, but I certainly wouldn't call it perfect. Lose those back pads entirely, add a laser cut field to allow modular systems like Qore's instead or nothing at all if running over armour. Switch the coil zip for the tougher Vislon Aquaguard, Laser cut the plush loop interior so it can take velcro or MOLLE, then switch the plain top for a roll top which can either work as compression or loop close for overload. If you are going to ask Tasmanian Tiger Modular Pack 45, Snigel Mission pack 50L or even Kifaru Shape Charge money, you need to be offering something REALLY special, not making people stump up extra for a Beavertail.

Thanks for chiming in. The back pads significantly enhance the comfort level of this pack and can still be worn over armor since they are very low profile. The purpose of this pack is not just for guys who wear body armor. There are packs that are more specific to that purpose, like our new Flintlock pack which has a slick Cordura back panel with a foam padded insert that can be removed. The Aquaguard zipper we use is extremely tough and is sealed over the top with the coil underneath, unlike the Vislon version. Both are very water tight. Laser cutting the plush loop Velcro is not a good idea, as it's not strong enough to hold any pouch with any weight to it - we tried this already and it causes the laser cut slots to sag. The other option would be to laser cut the plush loop Velcro and a laminated piece of Cordura, and stitch them both together, sewing between each row and around each laser cut slot to make it durable. However, this takes a significant amount of time and adds a lot of weight to the pack, which is not ideal either - so we chose to go without the MOLLE on the inside. While MOLLE on the interior of a pack seems like a nice feature, it's not something everyone uses. We found that using hook-backed inserts inside of a backpack is a lot more efficient, lighter, and easier to organize, especially when time matters. This bag is not meant to be designed with a roll top which would be a completely different type of configuration. We may make a pack like that in the future, however. We do believe this pack (for its intended purpose) is REALLY special, as it is designed with a kangaroo pocket in the front to accept inserts, includes a frame sheet with dual aluminum stays, thick padded/contoured straps which are superior to anything we've ever seen in packs of this category, and it's built like a tank. It is scalable unlike other 3-day assault style packs in this size range, in the sense that it's built to handle heavier loads comfortably. Our shoulder straps use 2 inch mil-spec webbing that are sewn behind the back panel in a v-to-x shape tied into the waist belt for exceptional weight distribution while under heavier loadouts. This isn't just another 3-day assault pack. It's a completely modular, scalable rucksack with an internal frame in the same size category as a 3-day assault, but can scale up to around 50 liters. The beavertail is not for everyone and we aren't making anyone buy something they don't need, which is why we sell it as an accessory instead of including it with the pack and padding it in the price. Looks like one of the packs you mentioned up-charges for a waist belt bringing their price to $475. Ours is already included and has a lot more features and modularity. To each his own though. Everyone has an opinion of what they would like to see in a pack and we are diligently trying to accommodate to those requests.
