Been using this turbo (mk7) with custom united motorsport software and i'm laughing bc i feel the same way with mine. Sometimes it feels slow, but i guess I'm just used to it. 3rd gear from 70 or so feels like pretty immediate torque and even on conti ecs sport 02s it can spin from 45 to 80 mph in cooler weather. I'm 6mt and my 3rd gear feels way stronger than 2nd. My main question is.....did you ever run yours on 93 before ethanol and if so, what kind of performance improvement could you feel between the 2? I've just been using 93, although the shop that tuned and installed mine wants me to go mpi and lpfp and use um proflex. I ran down a mk8 golf r one night and he had a good head start..... Everyone online mocks this turbo but its a pretty good unit....waaaay better than my is20.

Get some NT555G2's for the GTI. Im running a similar setup and dont spin on a 40 roll. I got a few peeps that run the firehawks mainly on rwd tho but have issues with wear and traction.

it goes fast, as he said it is garrett 2260 what about the oem turbo size mk8R ,it is not is38 anymore it is continental sth turbo but i dont know the size compare to 2260

Yea the gti moves but to be honest for the mk8R to be on a 91 tune it didn't pull on you THAT much. Just goes to show how insane the R is compared to the GTI.

Pretty sure I've saw posts by a tuning company saying that the Mk8 R stock turbo is more capable than the 2260.🤷‍♂️ Don't think that would be my first choice in turbo anyway

To do the golf r turbo swap its way more work and a lot more expensive. All that a tiny bit more is not worth it imo. It’s like 10hp

its more capable but the main difference in this race is the fuel type. Golf r all it needs it just a e85 tune and intake and its done. gti needs turbo, downpipe, lpfp, intercooler, intake and it would still be slower.

@@Hardwaretuned oh yeah, vw is a sleeper car, especially if you keep the stock catback and only do catless downpipe. never got pulled over on my 550whp mk7 gti. looked stock , no retarded stickers and rice looking.
