3D Circle template for the sound holes, was a brilliant idea. Nicely done sir. I enjoyed your video.

my 2007 access cab does have rear speakers in the suicide doors. The stock speakers actually sound great, but headunit finally took a crap. so doing my audio now. thanks for all the info!

2nd generation Access cab Tacoma's only have speakers in the rear doors from 2005 to 2009. Those of us who have a 2010 through 2015 have the garbage tweeters in the headliner.

Currently driving my Dad's 2009 Tacoma Access Cab w/TRD Off-Road pkg. It was his baby. Lots of bells & whistles, but he kept the 6-spd manual. Just rolled over 50K last week. Doesn't have a premium stereo, or what's in there is as premium as it got? - I dunno. Getting an itch to upgrade it, at least to as much as he would've liked. Just discovered the crazy headliner "rear" tweeters. Started searching for info and found your v-jayo. Had no idea they had unused speaker locations in the rear doors!!! Like your style; I'm a JBL guy myself. Subscribed w/full bell. Think we may talk again in the future. 😉👍

11:36 a litttle late here but you could have kept the speaker harness where it was instead of running it inside the door. the bracket you got from crutch field has a square whole at the top for that very reason. im sure everything is still working fine but it's to keep the plug free of any water that may get into the door when it rains and stuff which could be a lot sometimes.

Hey could you post a video showing the wiring of the rear speaker wire to the head unit? looking to do the same but don’t want to get into anything super confusing

I should do an update video on my truck stereo, it has changed quite a bit since this video. I changed to a larger amp I mounted in the back seat. So I have RCA's that go from the head unit to an amp in the rear, and that is where the speaker wires go to now. When I had them wired to the head unit I just popped off the running boards and run the wires down that channel with the rest of the wiring and fished it up the back of the dash to the head unit. Then just pos to pos and neg to neg. Do you have a specific question about any certain part of that?

@@motofoxx13I guess since your truck had pre-wired routes for the option of installing rear speakers it would be hard for you to explain haha, i have a 2.5 gen without the wiring and it’s confusing the crap out of me

@@_gloz Oh mine didn't come prewired lol. What you have to do is pull the door skins and some of the interior paneling. I think I just pulled the trim away, but didn't take it off in the back to access the wires. There are no speaker wires going into the back doors, but there is other wiring for door sensors that goes in there. Then I fished from the cab to the door. Use a generous amount of lube and it will slide right through. You can also use a coat hanger to fish it through, but the key is lube lol. Then there is a channel that runs under the running boards that covers other factory wires that you can use to get the wire to the dash, and remove the glove box for easy access on the passenger side. Then the driver side I ran it up by the fuse panel and along with other factory wires to the radio. The coat hanger helps to fish that wire on the driver side up to the radio.

@@motofoxx13Oh i just realized i got your video mixed up with a similar one (can you tell this is confusing to me 🤣🤣) How did you connect the speakerwire to the head unit after you ran it up the channels?

Wow, nice! Only 50K! I would say this was an easy upgrade and is all behind panels, so you keep that stock look, but get WAY better sound, and from that time stamp, yeah gross right. They sound okay for stock, but once you see what you are working with over all it's a mess. Then the rear speakers made a huge difference. Next I have to go through and soundproof everything though. The back doors make a hollow sound that I don't like. Let me know how your project goes, and thanks for the sub!!!

why not just use license plate nylon retainers for those square holes...

Rear speakers are unnecessary. Actually it would mess with the sound's stereo imaging. Front door speaker setup is all you need for optimal sound quality.

After running this setup for a while, as long as my sub is off, you can definitely hear the rear speakers and they give added depth to the sound. Also I’ve found that if I use the dead peddle then my leg covers the sound from the 6x9, so the rear speakers help fill in that lost sounds.

I put a better amp on my mids, and those back speakers make a huge difference.
