When I saw your video I was very frustrated with the image distortion on my CRT...so I took action...hence my pvm-14memde monitor...because Your video uses magnets to correct distorted images....my crt was saved...thank you so much...but opening the crt case...and then sticking the magnets on is really scary...lol😅Although it is not perfect, I am very satisfied! Thanks for sharing yours!

Thank you Steve for sharing the S-video & RGB MUX mods! It brought back nostalgic memories of playing NES and SNES on CRT TVs. Even though I don't own a CRT TV anymore, I found the video incredibly informative. I learned a lot about troubleshooting electrical circuits, cleaning CRTs, and general safety guidelines for handling CRT tubes. Great content!

Cool mods, and you do great electrical work, but those scart cutouts need work if you're charging for this. Should be under cutting and finishing with a file.

Got lucky on the JVC. With the yoke unplugged it likely didn't generate much HV. Otherwise that loose anode cap would have blown up plenty of stuff on the board from arcing.

Hello brother, I am Ganesh your biggest fan from all the way in the Caribbean, Trinidad and Tobago. I fell in love with CRT technology because of you. But I want your email to show you something. There is something remarkable I have discovered and I can't really understand what kind of electronic wizardry is happening. I have a 27" Phillips CRT Tv, after tweaking with the tv and trying all kind of explorative stuff playing retro games. I use a HDMI to composite converter, I run my computer to the tv. The thing is I connect the video composite cable to the component Y input on the tv, and voila I can see genuine Component on Black and White. I understand there is a conversion going on where the converter is allowing the HDMI resolution to be downscaled to NTSC 480i resolution. But, when you look at that image quality in black and white component on a Philips SD CRT, this tv is producing one of the sharpest image I have ever seen in my life. I am blown away. I have read that black and white has higher contrast ratio than color. So I know that sharp image has something to do with the way black and white imagery is shown and processed by the human eye. But, I set my computer on AMD andrenaline software to native black and white to properly synchronize. There was a bit of dot crawl, but when you take all the color saturation to 0 on black and white it shows perfectly sharp with zero dot crawl. The thing is I am telling you bro, you need to try this and tell me what you think. connect your computer to a Phillips SD CRT with HDMI to component converter, make the native saturation to black and white. Play a 4K video. One of those 4k Cyberpunk 2077 videos on KZbin. And tell me that is not the most impressive image you have ever seen in your life. My question what is allowing this to happen?
@Elwarez1994Ай бұрын
The Green or "Y" component input means Luma or luminescence so you get a sharp black and white image

Oh, I forgot...With the amount of scart holes you dremel out, instead of using a pencil have you thought of bending a 1/32 steel strip to the contour of a scart connector to make a template that you could heat up and mark the plastic with everytime? Then you just need to follow the groove with the dremel.

Will a modded TV do rgb in both pal and ntsc or does it depend on the tv?
@RetroTechUSAАй бұрын
These TVs are still NTSC sets. If your set is Pal, it will work. It's not going to make the TV properly accept Pal signals if it's still an ntsc set or vice versa

Hey sir. Been a few months. I have been meaning to chat it up on one of your videos comments since the retro expo in CT (black guy with glasses, Mike). I had to put my Sony on hiatus to dedicate time (I have other hobbies). I wanted to try and gather a few resources together before I re-tackle fixing and maybe modding my Sony KV-27FS13. When we spoke about it, I mentioned mines has the common issue associated with the more flat tubes. It works great otherwise but I genuinely would love to correct my tube since the audio and picture is amazing (every input/output) rather then trying to get another. I know about CRT database, but are there other websites I should use for a resource? Can anyone provide videos that have very legit and comprehensive instructions for repairing that type of CRT panel? I'm looking to have multiple resources to pull from to be as cautious and prepared as I can be.
