So nice to see young people showing interest in something meaningful

I'm pretty sure the biggest difference you'll feel is that one more cylinder working correctly.

I just picked me up a 72 f250, I got the 390 in it. This is my first old girl and this video really helped! Thanks
@SmudgyContent Жыл бұрын
Ole 71 f250 custom had the 360 in it. My uncle pulled it and plopped in a 390. Couldn’t be happier with the swap… from head gasket intake manifold to carb flooding itself it had to be pulled.

In my opinion, 300 inline 6s over 302 v8s any day 😅. In-line 6s are bulletproof engines and easy to work on, thanks to my 81’ F100.

Hopefully that valve wasnt stuck causing that broken pushrod. Those old FEs are the best. One of my FV ford things is the distributor in the front so easy for tuneups etc

Please don’t judge Ford based on the FE engines. Every family tree has that one cousin… For Ford, that’s the FE motor. But Ford has given us a number of awesome engines. From the Unkillable 240/300 inline 6’s, to the power house Cleveland 302/351’s, or the durability of the Windsor v8’s, the legend that is the Cologne V6, and the current Titans, the Coyote and Godzilla platforms.

The FE's are good solid motors. They are definitely not the step child you refer to. In fact, Ford won every kind of racing it wanted to in the early\mid 60's with that engine family.
@jesseduke69411 ай бұрын
The most legendary engines are ford FEs. I dont mean out of just ford engines. I mean out of all engines. So tell me you don't know anything about engines without telling me you know nuthing about engines. Lol!

you'll be going back to add a phenolic spacer under that carb and maybe a heat shield as well.😉

Enjoyed the video.... Did you have any difficulty getting the lifters out?
@fmlgarage4109 Жыл бұрын
Would do a comp/leakdown test on that cylinder with the destroyed pushrod, they don't bend themselves. Bet your husband was doing some hot runs in it and floated the valves/bent a pushrod, that valve may be bent now.
@shoreline7805 ай бұрын
For the price of lifters and Pushrods. If you change 1 change them all. You did alot of work to get to that point. Why cheap out? Good video!

Was there a new camshaft and lifters installed?

I replaced the lifters on the video. Cam lobe was measured and not damaged.

I never understood the thinking behind putting the push rods through the head.
@jesseduke69411 ай бұрын
It's a design from the 50's & the thought was in racing you save weight by using a aluminum intake manifold. The more weight saved the better. And with a aluminum intake manifold the FE engines are actually very light comparably speaking to other big blocks.

I can't tell if i know you from Missouri or the nose ring/flattened hair, super healthy skin and slightly bigger eyes are a bit more common there. not sure. not trying to be any kind of way. just struck me unusually familiarly. Not used to recognizing people on YT at all. let alone on such a gut level.
