Just a quick tip. The access point is designed to be mounted horizontal. If you mount it to the wall you're missing out on all the coverage. The antennas will point up and down that way. It's like a flying saucer not flying flat for arow dynamics. It works but not vey good. Good luck!

Thanks for watching! The instructions I followed showed it as ok either way, but as you pointed out the ceiling mount is likely the optimal orientation.

Great choice on the UDM SE.... I just bought one and I love it!

Thanks! I really like the new setup, and I’m glad you are enjoying your new Dream Machine too!

Just dumped my eero 6 for dream wall. Your setup looks great man thanks for video

Thanks for watching! I appreciate the positive comment. I wanted Eero to be great, and it was ok just couldn’t handle the number of devices we had.

@@JoshsSmartHome yea I had the same experience! This isn’t to say anything about you or your experience… but when I researched eero I must’ve missed the caveat where it said 75 devices per NETWORK or 100 with 6e eero. I thought it was 75 per access point like the UniFi system and many others. I had devices dropping left and right, connecting them back would boot another off. Assigning IP’s made it better until I got down to the point some devices just couldn’t connect anymore. Dream wall is overpriced and missing some features (legit internal storage and a punch out for the wires at the top) but I love the form factor it looks so nice next to my media enclosure and power wall and SPAN panel haha. 😂 Anyways this was long winded. thanks again for video very positive and good vibes looking forward to more

I thought the Eero 6 Pro that we had was supposed to be 75 per access point as you said, but it definitely was falling flat on its face the more we expanded. I’m glad you (and I) are in a better place post-Eero.

That poor SkyConnect will be struggling af with interference from the LR AP (i suppose you use this one for 2.4 GHz).
@JoshsSmartHome5 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching and the feedback! I probably should move it away some, but our zigbee network hasn’t had any issues even the last few weeks with the U6 LR there. We have a bunch of repeaters so it may just be suboptimal paths currently that I could resolve by moving it.

@@JoshsSmartHome well, you probably are very lucky with different channels, that aren't overlapping. :)
@JoshsSmartHome5 ай бұрын
I set it up with the auto scan to determine the best channel, so maybe it was “smart” enough to avoid it.

I agree with you. I would also make cables the least of my worries. Especially when they are in a closet that no one sees. I would love to see in depth process when you set up cameras. I have been setting aside a little money every month until I can afford unify dream and cameras. I just recently found your channel and just want to say keep it up. I enjoy your videos.
@JoshsSmartHome5 ай бұрын
Thank you so much! I’m planning on making an in-depth video of the cameras. I’m planning to buy more cameras and run the Ethernet cables, so it might be some time until I get it completed. I’m also gathering the funds to buy more cameras.

You don't see it, but you know it is there :) But I know the feeling, my stuff is also in behind a door and there is some spaghetti.
@JoshsSmartHome5 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching. As a typically organized person this stuff does eat at me, but I can ignore it sometimes.

i'm not going to talk crap about the cables but that's a lot of network for TMO 5G....
@JoshsSmartHome5 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching. So far, so good for the T-Mobile 5G home internet! It’s actually been comparable or superior to our Comcast, which was a monopoly provider for us.

At least loop the cables at the switch and the Dream Machine with some velcro cable ties.
@JoshsSmartHome5 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching! Yes I probably do need to at least invest a small amount of time to do the minimum.
@Techlifeandmore5 ай бұрын
I mean, about that nest of cables, what if you need to find something? It's probably going to be very hard to trace cables with their being so many just tangled everywhere.

It’s a fair point. I do have a few different colors which is helpful and I have the wall ports labeled. I may label at some point, but for now I’m going to wait and see if I have a reason to do it.
@taxguybri5 ай бұрын
I am looking to do this. Is it loud in your closet?
@JoshsSmartHome5 ай бұрын
No. It’s certainly not as loud as a computer. I work in this room and I don’t hear it with the door closed.
@taxguybri5 ай бұрын
Wow I’m surprised I thought it would be loud lol I want to do a full rack build im just worried about sound and power draw! lol
@JoshsSmartHome5 ай бұрын
I haven’t tested the power draw yet, I think I might do that after I get some cameras up and running
