Upgrading the Display Screen (Carplay/Android Auto) in my BMW F22 (2/3/4/x series)

Where did you order this unit? Specs if you don't mind sharing too. Curious how well it works (laggy at all?) How does the OEM interface work after the upgrade - is it smooth? Thanks in advance - nice video too!

Honestly.. idk.. it's Linux and not andorid and doesn't seem to have any lag or delays tbh.. the storage doesn't matter as it has USB for storage expansion but honestly, I'll never use it so again I don't know I just wanted something to upgrade the screen and it worked out better than I expecred.

Hey, does the system still show the service history in the oem menu? I have seen that some people report that the service menu is empty with the linux screen, but is shown again after instaling the old one back. Thanks for the help!

It should affect fhat but I do not know. Mine didn't have nav etc so it doesn't have the 2g/3g system.

​ @n55david it's written into the onboard memory and online if you do the service at the bmw dealership. I have the same system as you (no navigation) and the system has still a SIM card inside for the connected drive system from bmw. I will just buy the screen and see for myself if the service history will be shown or not. Are you still happy with the system, or does it make problems after 3months of use? Ps great video :)!

Hey David yea I would like a link to it, also I'm trying to reach out to someone to find out exactly which connector do I connect the flex fuel kit into on the 2014 F25 x3 35i I did an install just like u did but the model at the kick panel is different n mine keep reading zero (ECA) even in my bm3 app. I tap into a black connector above the blue 1 at the bottom.

Question, i am look for a linux based screen my self. How does it work with regular fm radio. Can you get navigation audio from Android auto and fm radio at the same time?

Yes.. you can switch back and forth between the oem idrive. You can set this to use the factory Bluetooth channel and it will play the radio still while you use android auto.

I still connect through the bmw Bluetooth so no, I haven't experienced any.

No, it's Linux based so it's not laggy really at all. No issues with the oem interface, zero issues. I think it's 6gb ram though. Not positive. All I knew is that it was food for a buddy of mine and really inexpensive so I tried it. Love it.

have you tried the bluetooth phone yet? i need to know how the microphone works. If its built into the screen. Im hoping it picks up your voice well without having to speak loud. Or does it use the factory mic?

It uses the oem mic and everything still. Nothing changes in that regard.

@brakthru2 unless it's built into the screen itself, no. I haven't needed to mess with that since you can utilize the oem hardware to make it simple.

@giovannysolis3362 I have one in my 240 and x3 and its been fine and it's been over 90 recently. Shouldn't be an issue but if it is, thats why amazon has a warranty. It'll be at least a week before the video is up.
