We take the Tesla Model 3 Performance model for a drive. Should I upgrade from my Standard Range Plus for $450 a month?

I just picked up a 21 standard plus for a daily car and it’s shocking quick. Not so much from a dig, but 30+ roll it isn’t like any other car, the instant torque is fun and never gets old, not to mention I got it for a STEAL!

In real life I hardly ever do kick down 0-60 kinda driving. The 30-75 is a "daily" activity and after testing all versions of model 3 I really can`t find any real argument of getting the performance version, not even the LR. I bought the 2021 SR+ and enjoy thinking how much money I did not have to spend to get a car able to go this fast. 18 inch is also the best choiche of wheels for everyday driving. They give sporty handling but still you have comfort and less noise.

I have tried both Model Y and 3 last winter and I'm the same, Model 3 all the way! It's slightly less spacious, but so much more fun to drive. I tried a SR+ Model Y and LR+ Model3 with a cold battery and the difference was huge.

You could get the LR then the software performance upgrade which is a cheaper route, doesn't quite give the same bang for buck, but certainly worth a consideration. It takes the 4.4 second LR acceleration to 3.9 seconds. You also need to consider the comfort loss with the performance version as the larger wheels with lower profile tires gives a hasher ride. That sort of thing is important in the UK where the roads are s..t, maybe the roads are better in Canada.

Great point as always Tom. I guess I need to go back and test drive a Long Range next ;)

I doubt roads are better in Canada, maybe even s**ttier, especially in Ottawa. Lots of snow means lots of potholes. But yeah you made a really good point, M3LR + Acceleration Boost is less than 68k (65K+2.7K), compare to M3P 75k in CAD. Pretty good option for people who just want the extra fun from acceleration but not going too crazy like track mode.

05:42 The autopilot is now temporarily limited to 120km/h for Pure Vision cars (no radar), I heard Telsa just pushed an update which increases the limit to 80mph from 75 mph this week, haven't updated my car to see what it is in km/h, probably 130 i guess.

I accelerated quickly to get out of the way. Or else he would of hit me for sure. It was a very close call. He was thankful it was me there and not a newbie on a Seadoo.
