Great video, man. I think you made the right choice. $99 annually (equal to about $8.25/mo) isn't too bad of a stretch for most people, and you get a lot in return. Not all, but many mobile hotspot plans cost anywhere from $20-30 per month anyways, so $8.25 is a bargain if you look at it that way. Cheers!

Just a clarification--Yes, you lose access to the live traffic visualization, but if you were to enter a destination into the navigation, it will still use live traffic data (in the background) to avoid traffic and route/reroute you via the fastest way possible. Without premium connectivity, you will lose the colored markers on the map and satellite view as mentioned.

I think Tesla is just using Google Maps with very minimal enhancements. It is still routing me to the longest and route but I can't move the route like you can do in google maps when you are familiar with the roads and you know for sure your preferred route is shorter and quicker.

For me, the only essential aspect of Premium Connectivity is Sentry Mode - View Live Camera. Everything else, I can do on my phone. I can’t do that from my phone. So for me, that’s not only a sufficient reason to buy the service, but a dealbreaker if it wasn’t included.

I use the browser enough that I think this is worth it. The browser is basically a full linux Chrome installation, and having the premium connectivity removes a dependency on the phone (as you said, if the phone has poor service, or even if it's not with you). It basically turns the car from a wifi tablet into a cellular tablet for $100/year.

Live traffic visualization is disabled but still works, you just cant see it. Car will reroute if traffic is too heavy and it has alternate route. But its liberating to have the premium connectivity. More pros than cons by having it.

I seriously don’t think we save anything on gas….we prepaid for it and we have to pay more for anything good. Quite honestly the Autopilot IMHO is not as good as other manufacturers adaptive cruise and lane keeping. Just drive a Kia and you will see what I mean. I expected Tesla to be so much better…quite disappointing!!

Hi, I have issue with the Y 2023, they took the USS for the vehicle, with the live camera on premium package, can I see live camera while I park the vehicle without hitting the sidewalk or any object close by?. I don't know about this premium connectivity thing. i will be purchasing a model Y long range vehicle in the near future. See what the Tesla person says when I do my test drive. If i can get AM/FM radio free with standard connectivity - that is all I need. If the standard navigation map is adequate enough - that is great. I only drive in my local town and know where everything is located. So i don't need a huge graphic visual traffic report. The other music, streaming, Carokee, internet, etc, I also really don't need. I do all this at home on my PC laptop, so I don't need this also in my vehicle. If I want any of this premium stuff for a month, I will pay 10 dollars and then cancel at the end of that month. I don't mind the 10 dollars, but don't see myself using allot of this premium features, so why pay for it. I just want to drive around town and get me from point A to point B. If I can listen to the radio while driving that would be great. Otherwise i will bring a portable radio with me. I have an Android phone, so not sure how well that works with the Tesla premium stuff. Seems everything is Apple play, not sure. Bottom line is why pay for things I am not going to use. Standard connectivity for me. Bye!!!!

Well I have had my 2023 model Y LR for a couple weeks now and on the Premium Connectivity trial for a couple more weeks. The only thing I have mainly used is the FM Radio while driving. I have tried most the features, but don't really find them a necessity on a weekly basis. I get enough streaming and internet stuff from my home PC. When the vehicle is at home I am connected to my local WIFI and I don't use the Tesla phone App for anything special. So that said, I am going to let Premium run out in 2 weeks and see if I really miss anything. Last thing. It is not a cost issue, I just don't see myself using 98 percent of Premium connectivity. If I need some feature in the future, I will subscribe. Right now, I would say no.

Ya know bra, I was at Mickey D’s the other day, and I’m a big boy, so happy meal just ain’t gonna cut it. I didn’t order the whole damn store but I did get enough to fill my belly and that shit was $13. Poor little raggedy, ass McDonald’s. So was my point? Who really gives a damn about $10 a month after you have paid 50-60 grand for a car. For that little bit of chump change, I can do that surveillance mode and use the cameras to watch all around my vehicle 24 hours a day. Plus whatever else it do. Money well spent.
