I just wanted to have a discussion with you guys about audio and video technology. Feeling pressured to upgrade your equipment, when should you upgrade? Should you even upgrade your equipment at all?

At the very least get an atmos capable receiver with DTSx. Kef has good deals on theater speakers. Soundbar is nothing like a theater system.

Actually just upgraded to a Panasonic UB-820 4k player. It really is amazing. It’s as if watching movies again for the first time.

It definitely is! I used to play my 4k's on my Xbox One, and I'm glad I decided to spend the extra money for the UB820.

Glad you’re talking about audio, far too many KZbinr movie channels only use their crappy TVs audio, honestly imo they’re not movie lovers even if they have thousands of movies but are satisfied with TV speakers, video presentation is only half of the experience, good quality audio is directors intent. I always try to recommend a subwoofer at least(and they still don’t listen🤦‍♂️). And I don’t even have a modern sound system, I use a older Sony AV receiver connected to a bunch of speakers surround sound, subwoofer etc(I got everything from thrift store for 30 bucks). I’m planning on upgrading next year to modern equipment(doesn’t mean my current equipment is bad, still way better than sound bars 😂). for TV I have a 77” LG C1, I will upgrade TV in three years, may go 83” G series LG OLED.

Get yourself a nice Denon receiver You get a lot of speakers reasonable price online put yourself together a nice little system on the cheap you’ll be amazed.

I have a lg c2 49 INCH 4 k Dolby vision tv , Panasonic ub820 4 k Blu-ray player, ysp 2500 soundprojecter with sub woofer, tbh it does me 🎼🎥💿👍🏻📺 good video mate 👍🏻

@@sprcrzy110 No problem. I did a ton research before I bought my C9. Loved the brand so much I got a CX soon after. Definitely get the 4-5 year warranty though. I bought mine from Best Buy.

I bought a 49 lg cx lg 4K player Sonos beam sub mini and 21sls a year ago. I’ve now bought a 65 c3 a Sonos arc, sub gen 3 and two era 300s. My advice to others is work out what the end game dream is and buy it once

I've gone from a soundbar to HT in a box and from budget right up to my current high-performance AVR, and I just like to say don't be scared to make the jump. Nowadays, AVR's are so simple to set up that they even walk you through the process.The integrating or dialling the system in comes with experience, besides there's plenty of advice on HT KZbin videos, especially if one chooses to go with a popular AVR brand something like Denon or marantz for example. The idea is to try and keep things evenly balanced! Meaning one is unlikely to get their money's worth by purchasing expensive speakers and connecting them up with an inexpensive AVR/Amp (or vice versa) There's a saying in the audio world.. "your only as good as your weakest link!" However, the most important advice is to have fun and enjoy the journey. Good luck Our eyes follow our ears to where the story lives 🫣

I had a LG CX 55 until January 2024. Upgraded to the LG G3 65 in January 2024. I have a middle of the road LG sq75r soundbar with surround speakers, and a Panasonic ub820 4k player. I’ll say that even in 2024 an LG CX is still an excellent tv (I have it in mine and my wife’s bedroom now that I got my G3) the CX in 2024 is still better than any of that Hisense, TCL, or almost any non flagship LCD tv crap that’s been released this year

@@Franksmediaandreviews the g4 is out already. Has been for a few months. Tbh the biggest and only real difference I noticed is the brightness (it’s like 35-40% brighter than the CX) that comes with the MLA tech in the G3. I bought the G3 over the C3 because the G3 comes with a 5 year panel warranty. That’s a big reason I upgraded.

@@grievousangel1984 it's already out! Wow, time goes by too fast. That's big difference in brightness. I'm assuming the picture quality is better as well?

@@Franksmediaandreviews it’s better image processing, and higher brightness that is most noticeable. 4k resolution is 4k resolution, so the yearly upgrades are incremental. The peak brightness of the CX is like 890nits if i remember correctly. The G3 I’d like 1500nits. I’m a gamer as well as a physical media enthusiast, and gaming is where I see the biggest difference in quality. HDR gaming on my series x and ps5 is much better than the CX. HDR gaming/movies are much better than CX. Right now is a good price point to grab the G3 over G4 (from everything I’ve seen/read the price of the G4 right now is t worth it as opposed to grabbing the G3 right now)

We had an LG soundbar but man the vocals were always super low. Turn up the volume and get your ear drums destroyed by every other sound. My wife actually won our Samsung 4k TV in a contest. Once i had a 4k tv, i started using my Xbox one x to watch movies. It was awful snd nearly half of my discs wouldn't play. Got to my breaking point snd then decided I needed something worth using for my movies or there was no point in continuing to collect movies. Got the Panasonic 820 and the Samsung 880b sound bar with the rear 7.1 speakers. Wife thought I was nuts until i sat her down and had her listen to an Atmos tracked movie. Plus the vocal tracks are so much better now. She wasn't happy about the price tag but definitely agreed it was better than what we had

We almost have the same setup! Having the dedicated 4k player makes a big difference, and then adding the immersive audio and 4k TV 🤯 My wife thought I was wasting money, but even she could tell there was a major difference of quality and to be honest, we've watched a lot more movies at home instead of going to the theater.

The fact that I prioritise a totally silent room, I can't tell you how important it is to keep power cables and other cables routed separately. If they have to cross paths have them cross at a 90-degree angle where they make a minimum amount of contact.
