Hey guys, and welcome back to another ChriswithaC RC video! Today, as promised, I'm excited to walk you through the upgrades I'm making to my SSTE from Hobao with some fantastic power system enhancements for this incredible RC truggy!
I recently got my hands on this ESC from Aliexpress at a very reasonable price, initially thinking it would be a perfect fit for my MTX. However, since I wanted to amp up the performance of my SSTE, incorporating this system seemed like the ideal opportunity to go all out with an overkill build. Plus, I've got even more exciting upgrades on the horizon to truly make this the ultimate truggy!
The components we've chosen for this upgrade include the Hobbywing 810BL150 G2 ESC, the Surpass Rocket V2 4282 2150KV motor, a Flysky FS-BS6 receiver, and the DS3230 Pro servo. You'll find all the links below for easy access.

@@ChriswithaCrc They do work very well together don't they.. Not too bad on the wallet either. Relatively speaking... I especially like the Hobbywing WP SC8 120 amp 4S ESC paired up to a Surpass 3660/3670 motor, for 1/10 rigs like MTs & SCs you're going to have pretty much more power than you need (if such a thing even exists.! 😉) For my 1/8 scale stuff like my Hobao rigs, DR8 etc the Hobbywing 8BL150 150 amp 6S paired to a Surpass Rocket 4074/4080/4090 motor is awesome.! The 120 amp ESCs go for around £52, the 3660 KK series motors can be had for around £20 sometimes (they used to be as low as £15..sigh) The 150 amp goes for around £70ish with the Rocket motors sometimes as low as £35.. That's a heck of a lot of power for not an awful lot of money.!!

The surpass platinum motors chrome can are cheap too and better imo than the plain old kk/gool etc.

I use a Surpass hobby rocket on my Slash and hey are actually great motors. With these motors the way to go is..." The redder the better "

Hey George , yes I’ve been using them now on and off for two years and never had an issue with them . Way better than most main branded motors and seems to run nice and cool if you spec the size of the motor correctly . Stay awesome Chris 🤙🚀🛞👊🤩

When you buy DS servo, choose the Blue version. The Red is only rated for 6.8V maximum. Blue can go up to 8.4v.

Ok, weird, all the infos i found say it's not. When i look the specs, i see that the Pro il also 6.8 max.

I brought a 4092 1250kv 160a esc combo from ebay done multi buy and got a 1650kv 1420 kv £87 each combo. fantastic value for money really are had no trouble with the 1650kv combo so far two weeks old

I used a team corally battery tray to fit in my hobao it has more room for bigger batteries also makes mounting the esc hassle free just requires a few holes in the chassis and your golden also i used a redcat kaiju receiver box mounted on the servo mount so i can run bigger receivers😅
