I've recently read on some forums (out dated by a couple years) that the Volquartsen competition bolt doesn't operate well in the stock upper. Can you speak to the validity of this? I'm wanting to start customizing my Mk iv tactical, but can't afford a few hundred on a bolt that might not operate even as well as the OEM due to tolerances or whatever and might be better with just upgrading the bolt internals. Any insight about how well the bolt functions on original upper is much appreciated!

Great question. There are rare instances where maybe the extractor cut on the factory upper is a little off. Again those types of issues are rare. Especially if your MK IV was manufactured in the last couple of years. If you would encounter something like that after purchasing our Competition Bolt - please reach out to us. Bolt Tune Up Kit is also definitely not a bad place to start!

The competition bolt has been the best upgrade to my Mk IV. Yes, it was spendy, but worth every penny. No more stovepipes. If you like your Mk IV, you'll love it after putting the competition bolt on it!

Yes they're compatible with the standard MK IV and now can be shipped to CA.

I used the accurizing kit with the extractor and firing pin, solved my light strike ,ejection problems(old firing pin showed some peening from dry fire I'm assuming) love the light trigger now although getting all the parts in was fiddly. Interesting idea to have multiple upper/barrels, easy to switch and use same lower receiver in all, some sports require iron sights only, but prefer a red dot when possible-like the idea that 4 inch barrel with red dot can be as accurate as the 6 inch with irons

what does the upgraded trigger do vs the kit without the trigger? Can you use the stock trigger with your sear?

Our trigger allows for pretravel and overtravel adjustment. You can use a stock trigger, or most other aftermarket triggers if you'd prefer.

It's a very common problem with the mark iv that bulk ammo such as federal or Remington 500 will not fire due to light strike. I haven't got the bolt tune up kit yet but I'm willing to try because cci can get expensive when I'm trying to go through several hundred rounds of ammo
