Vectra Protector, very good product. I have used for many years. Not too expensive. I purchase at fabric store

Hi it's me. Years ago I worked at a family owned furniture store with my husband. We both attending parking lot sales. I took over the sale from the salesman. Added tax, delivery charge etc. Wrapped it up. I always asked customers buying couches or mattresses if they would like their furniture scotch guarded. About $100. I got the commission. Now my mom bought a couch and my husband double dosed it. She loved it. The couch never stained or dirtied. She vacuumed it but that all. As a teen we scotch guarded each other's thighs and butt area on our Levi's for skiing. No skiing attire then. We stayed dry enough to sky all day. I recommend it. Or maybe throw a beach towel over that area. Hang it in closet. Wash when it's dirty. Really enjoying your videos Dalia. Much ♥️ From Cali.

Hi Michele! I found out something new about you every week haha! Love it! Also I think I should Scotchguard my couch now. Also your idea for skiing....very cool 😎
@MicheleWalkerWebb2 жыл бұрын
@@DIYDalia Well you tackled that problem and it looks fabulous compared to a beach towel. Vacuum your couch good and spray it. Couches and mattresses are big expenses. This will make the fabric last longer. Dalia you are looking prettier every week! 😘

Hi, instead of fabric for your head board slip covers, you could also use the canvas painters drop cloths from either Lowes or Home Depot. Have seen them made into no sew curtains using cafe curtain clips.

For the headboard cloth cover, you could use pops of color to make it look more intentional and change it up for the different seasons. Could be really fun 😁

Creating a removable cover is a good idea, but I'd also use a fabric protector solution on it and your headboard to make it stain resistant and easier to clean. You just spray it on (or you can have it done professionally but probably not worth the cost in this use case). There are also eco friendly brands of protectors/stain block treatments for fabric that also spray on. It's probably something worth considering especially for a light color that is in constant contact with body oils. 🙂

I too have to go 100% fragrance free. It is a pain! Good luck! And yes, scotch guard should help a lot! Also consider using a half a cup of vinegar while washing clothes. It makes thing softer, makes things more sanitary, and helps prevent build up in the machine.
@amberfrazier575 Жыл бұрын
I wonder if it was the other material that looked like it? You could pull the fabric off and make it into a fitted cover like a cushion on the top and a fitted sheet on the back a square in front with 10” of fabric sewn to the back and line the back edges with elastic so it can go into the washing machine.
@shannonsallows76142 жыл бұрын
The cover was a great idea and now you can just throw that part in the wash. As for scotchguard, I think I would pass using it on the headboard, it off gases and it doesn't stop your fabric from getting dirty it just makes it easier to clean. I prefer your solution
@justRoRo2 жыл бұрын
There are other brands of fabric protector that have diff degrees of protection. I wouldn't rule out the concept of fabric protectors entirely based on one specific brand name (Scotchguard is the name of product made by 3M). 🙂 It's probably still worth exploring, especially as new and healthier products are created every day 🙂

You should get rustoleum’s never wet fabric spray! It does have a very strong smell so needs to be done outside and Daley outside for 1-2 days. It will waterproof the fabric so your oils and stuff should not get into it! I use it on my boots every winter and it really works!

I used upholstery fabric on my headboard and the same thing happened. I googled how to clean it and apparently it’s a common issue with all headboards. I think scotch guard could help. It does prevent moisture from penetrating the surface but it’s probably not going to totally stop it from happening because any fabric is going to absorb some sort of moisture just like your sheets do. The curse of a light colored fabric I guess.
@SableSunsets2 жыл бұрын
People sell their upholstered headboards and im like eww no thanks lol
@TheBinsQueen2 жыл бұрын
I agree with what others said, I wouldn't use scotch guard on a headboard. The issue is that's you used an untreated fabric. Making removable covers that can be washed is your best bet I think :)

Check on your scotch guard and make sure it was not discontinued, one of them causes hormone imbalance, cancer ect and has been discontinued. I was going to suggest hemming a box case with only a 4” strip in back . Sew the soft end of Velcro to your headboard cover and staple the rough end of your Velcro to the back of the head board all the way around . Then you can wash and dry, whenever you like. Especially if you use a cleat system to hang your headboard. Also your stain is most likely an oil stain, dawn dish soap and an overnight hot soak is probably best.

I have such a hard time reading/follow instructions by myself. I also have adhd. I’m not quite sure why instructions are so hard, I think the way the info is presenting (boring, tiny, lots of words). I also mix my words up when reading so sometimes what I read is not exactly what’s on the page and that’s super frustrating.

The discoloration in your headboard is from the oils in your skin because of your darker skin tone. My husband is Sri Lankan, and this happens to us all the time, so I have to replace the bedding often or buy darker sheets and towels so you won't see it.
