Remember Quigley Down Under? How about Quigley Up North! “God created all men. Dennis Quackenbush made airgunners equal.” Dennis Quackenbush is a living legend and pioneer of big bore airgun development here in the United States. I was lucky enough to acquire a pair of his .58 cal Outlaw Pistols and I have been blown away - LITERALLY!
If you spend anytime at all in the online communities and forums, you will come across the name Quackenbush or DAQ Airguns. He has been perfecting his handcrafted works of art for decades. I am now a proud owner of his work and wanted to share this video with you to go over the DAQ .58 Airgun Big Bore Airgun Pistol that can ethically take a White Tail Deer. That is the plan anyway. So join me on some fun big bore airgun pistol shenanigans! .58 Cal PISTOL PEW! PEW!
P.S. I apologize about the audio. I dropped my camera in the snow before I started recording. Thus the muffled sound. The challenges of being an airgunner in the Great White North!

Awesome! I love how you help to kindle the air gunner's fire continually. I still haven't saved up enough for my Texan but I'm well on my way. Worked out well because I started before the LSS carbon fiber model became known. Now I will be in a position to get the best to be had thanks to your work and hospitality. Thanks for that. The pistol looks like a load of fun for you but just is not my bag, I like rifles.

Dennis uses off-the-shelf rubber o-ring seals in all the Outlaw series rifles/pistols that you can buy in any decent hardware store. I've got a .25 cal, 9mm, and the .58 cal Outlaw pistols. My favorite is the 9mm. I had to change the seal on the charging check valve of the 9mm when a slight leak developed. No big deal at all. The .25 cal shoots 50 grain Hunter Supply slugs quite accurately out to 50 yards at an average of 700 ft/sec over a 5 shot spread before needing to be re-charged back to 3000 psi.

Please, please, please, someone make a big bore pumper! I'd like something like a Crosman 2289/1322 in a bigger calibre that shoots just short of 500 fps so it's legal to own one without a license in Canada! I bet a .30 cal would be doable using a bigger pump, suitable valve and bigger transfer port. And an 18" barrel would be really manageable, too!
@wandererstraining
@wandererstraining 4 жыл бұрын
@Celtic Pride Depends for what. For having quick and easy access to guns, absolutely. And some of our gun laws don't make much sense at all, either. But at least, getting a gun license isn't very expensive or difficult. I wanted to do mine, but the place I wanted to do it at only gave the safety course on days when I worked. 😔 I'll get it eventually, tho.
@wandererstraining
@wandererstraining 4 жыл бұрын
@Celtic Pride On the other hand, it's nice that we done have a gun problem, either. I mean, it's not like no one has a gun. Like, one person out of 20 has one, so they're still widely available. But not so much that they're prevalent and people shoot at each other. It's a bit of a trade off. I think guns are cool. But I don't want the number of mass shootings that the US has, either.
@wildrangeringreen
@wildrangeringreen 2 жыл бұрын
@@wandererstraining Considering there are countries that have similar ownership rates as the US (not firearms/population, the number of owners (here, many owners have 3-100 arms, other places, not so much) vs the population, what's often cited is the number of firearms in circulation vs the population in the US), and don't really have mass shootings regularly, I'm thinking the availability of legal firearms isn't the problem... people still shoot each other in Canada, it's just not televised like it is here. Since Vietnam, watching people kill each other seems to be America's new favorite pass-time... to the point where we create wars to televise and 3/4 of our pop-media has violence as a major theme. Considering pre-vietnam, Firearm Ownership rates were much higher than today (and there were almost no firearm laws) (basically everyone had a firearm vs today where only about 1/3 of the population owns firearms), and you didn't have very many events of mass-violence, I would say that firearms/guns in general (the statists will target air guns next) aren't the problem. Controlling who amongst the citizenry has legal access to arms isn't about "safety", it's about control. Artificially limiting access creates a black-market, and the weapons keep flowing into people's hands anyway. A few years ago, there was an entire train car of government M16's bound to Atlanta for their police to use, that mysteriously was robbed the night before the police took possession... those arms ended up on the black market, and that is just one example out of many how arms end up on the black market. About 5 years ago, one of my native County Sheriff Deputies caught a local man who had stolen over 500 firearms from people's homes over the course of a year, and he was selling them to anyone with the cash. The only reason they caught him was he was speeding through town and had a warrant for parole violations from a previous offense; so they searched his car in connection to the arrest and found stolen guns, which allowed them to get a warrant to search his home property, where they found more. If you want something bad enough, you can get it, you just have to be willing to go beyond your neat, suburban white-picket-fence to do it.
@wandererstraining
@wandererstraining 2 жыл бұрын
@@wildrangeringreen Overall, I tend to agree with you, and I don't think that gun control is a cure-all. But I am not absolutely in disfavour of it tho. I heard the anarchist (am an anarchist, myself) and libertarian argument that gun control usually prevents the most vulnerable to have access to firearms, and I find it appeal. I also don't think that it makes much sense to relinquish personal and community protection to the state. But at the same time, it's probably better to have _some_ requirements to own firearms. A bunch of untrained people waving them around seems like a recipe for avoidable accidents. Probably not going to prevent many mass shootings, but still. You wouldn't want a bunch of people on the road who never learned to drive. It's a bit the same with guns. I think that the important part is how it's implemented, and lately, Canada definitely has been going the wrong way with it (banning "scary looking guns", banning new handgun ownership, etc.). Regarding mass shootings and violent gun deaths, looking at worldpopulationreview.com, the US has much higher rates than Canada. Nearly 3 times the ratio of deaths in mass shootings, and about 7 times the ratio of violent gun death. The site adds that if you use median numbers instead of average numbers, the US is well above any other country in terms of mass shootings, and Canada doesn't compare. Is it all explainable by gun control? No, I don't think so. There's a lot that goes into it, and as you wrote, many criminals could still procure guns if they wanted to. Hell, I'm not a criminal, but I could certainly put my hands on illegal weapons, or build deadly weapons, if I wanted to. For example, I could easily acquire the means to build an FGC-9, or many. Or I could make a gun out of hardware store parts. I have no intention of doing it, as getting guns legally is more accessible and the state isn't going to lock me up for it if it knows about it. There are even a bunch of homemade weapons that wouldn't be illegal to possess, here. Anyone can buy a crossbow, or make a slingshot. I could build an Instant Legolas that shoots arrows and is powered by rubber bands so as to stay compact, and it would have a higher rate of fire than a typical hardware store gun would, and it wouldn't even be illegal. Anyway, ha ha. That's a whole different tangent. 😅 Edit: oh yeah, I wanted to add that intent matters. In Canada, people don't carry firearms for protection, unless they're in the wilderness. You never seen anyone pull out a gun in public, ever. You don't see anyone carrying them unless they're police or armored car security. In the US, a while ago, people probably had different reasons to carry guns around, too.

@@wandererstraining The only group that is made safer by corrupt politicians and unaccountable bureaucrats picking and choosing who can have arms is the state, and exploiters who inevitably gain control of corrupted governments. in Norway a couple years ago, guy went into a shopping center and killed 5, wounded several more with a bow, Norway has gun control, Norway also doesn't have a history of civil violence. Disarming the citizenry only helps the state, and those who own it. if you live in a democratic country where the common citizen is not the primary funding source for political campaigns, and corporations have no standing politically, you aren't in control of your government. there's already a law against killing people other than to defend yourself, why do we need laws saying you can't murder with a gun? when half the questions on a background check form have to do with being loyal to the state, 45% have to do with verifying your identity, and only 2 or 3 questions regarding whether you are a threat to other people, I think we can see what the goal is
