Love the UWS! All the best things about NYC in one place! And if you need a hotel recommendation, the Hotel Belleclaire on 77th and Broadway is a perfect location to base out of for your explorations! It's just 2 blocks from the 1 and 2 trains, a couple of good cafes are just around the corner and maybe best of all it's just a 30 meters from La Caridad!! BTW, we've also had some decent takeout from the Europan cafe next door too! Lincoln Centre and the Koch Theater are within walking distance for shows and you can walk the paths that parallel the 79th Street Traverse across Central Park in less then 20 minutes to access all the great shopping on Park Ave. Love your videos Jon...keep up the great work! :-)

John this is the video I’d been waiting for! I just got back from NYC today after studying up for my holiday with your videos. I stayed on the UWS mainly because I was chasing that You’ve Got Mail atmosphere and it was there at every corner. It is a wonderful part of Manhattan where one can easily end up feeling like a local - super close to a lot of things too and indeed the 1 train from 72nd is a godsend that takes you to all the important parts of the city. Thank you finally for recommending Sarge’s Deli - my favourite lunch I had in NYC! Keep up the good work! 😄

Keep these neighborhood guides coming! I love visiting and spending time in different city neighborhoods. With you being from the Village, have you ever fanboyed at 555 Hudson Street? It was the home of Jane Jacobs, the famous activist and author of the seminal urban geography book The Death and Life of Great American Cities lived and wrote the said book. Being a student of urban geography I would fanboy at that address.

Ive never been to New York City, I have to scratch that one off my bucket list. My sister went with her bf and family and shes not very big on it because we're from a southern state and she didn't like how busy it was. Were NC, so we have some citys near us, but nothing like nyc obviously. Raleigh's been coming up and Charlotte is a pretty decent city. Most of my family likes semi country kinda quiet but not one of those dead towns with one gas station and a small grocery store but those areas are around too. Im pretty southern but i actually enjoy the city so it d really love to see nyc.

The outdoor free screenings at the Met in August are about 10 days, not three weeks. He may be confusing this with the outdoor Lincoln Center performances for about 3 weeks in July that are mostly not classical music. There are also other ways of getting cheaper Met tickets mentioned elsewhere on their site.
