If you have two squirrels with Pitiless and Chatterfang you can also create infinite treasure by sacrificing one squirrel to Chatterfang targeting the other generating 2 squirels and 2 treasures which pay for the ability and leave you with 1 more treasure(that is if your opponents have no creatures if they have you could also just clear their board by saccing 2 at a time and than perform the loop above)

Cards like Butcher of Malikir, Dictate of Erebos, and Grave Pact, make Chatterfang a Board Wipe nearly every other turn. Necrotic Hex is a great card for board wipes. Everyone sacrifices six creatures and then you get six zombies plus six more squirrel tokens. One of my personal fun favorites for a Chatterfang Deck is Grave Titian. He’s a 6/6 giant with Death Touch who ETB’s with two zombies and then farts out two zombies every time he attacks. Both Wand of Orcas and Black-blade Reforged have been fun and devastating artifacts for Chatterfang to fight with.

My favorite combo for chatterfang is ruthless knave and ashnods altar. Just sac a token using ruthless knaves ability and make two treasures and two squirrels, now sac one of the squirrels to ashnods altar and use one treasure to make black mana to use ruthless knaves ability again. Infinite mana, infinite death triggers and the best part is you can use the second ability from ruthless knave to draw your deck until you find a blood artist/zulaport cutthroat to win. Ive noticed people let ruthless knave stick around a lot more than pitess plunderer. Plus knave is a LOT cheaper than plunderer.

I see that none of the 3 lists have a Grim Hierling. If you're in the tokens focussed build, you're going wide enough that you can convert squirrels into 2 treasure per opponent. Easily and often this represents 6 more treasure, and thus 6 more Squirrels. It also ends up doubling as a slower Chatterfang removal spell for all those Treasure tokens if needed. Additionally, if you're running an expensive budget build with Ashnod's Altar, Doubling Season and Parallel Lives, you can win the game with Slimefoot the Stowaway, Altar and one of Chatterfang or either of the enchantments.

I really like Skyclave Relic for chatterfang...Its a good mana rock and it can create tokens late game with chatterfang! Another great card is Forsworn Paladin! Just an overall great card and is even better in Chatterfang!

Hey I've run a spik-e version of chatterfang, indeed it's amazing how it combos so fast and easy, also the big board states plus blood artist type triggers almost always ends up in a hard lock onto the other players or win you the game. The cards that are more friendly budget and can make tokens on each players upkeep are incredible good by themselves and synergistic.

A new golgari tutor that’s budget I have enjoyed in my decks is Dig Up I like the option of just grabbing a land early if you need or tutor with the cleave cost

a couple non budget picks I've got in my list are Old Gnawbone and Arachnogenesis, Old Gnawbone is self explanatory, you get an overrun effect going and a clean swing and you're making so many tokens, even if you can't get thru with tokens just getting thru with Old Gnawbone will net you 7 treasures and 7 squirrels, Arachnogenesis is nutty just in general and especially when you combine it with this general, even more so if you're against another tokens deck

With it appearing in less than 1% (39 of 4073) Chatterfang decks, I’d be curious to know if you did any testing with Tombstone Stairwell in a Chatterfang deck. Granted there’s the cumulative upkeep, but with it triggering on each players turn, one or two trips around the table should net you a fair number of squirrels, especially if it’s later in the game and you need to break the turtle standoff. Collect squirrels for a couple rounds, then stop paying the upkeep, let the Tombstone get buried and swing wide with the Furry Horde.

I personally really hate combos, especially infinite combos. I feel like it goes against the intended design of the game. It's so ridiculously easy to just go 'okay I play these two cards that cost 5 or 6 combined mana, and I win'. Usually with little recourse for the opponent. All that time spent shuffling physical cards, setting everything up, and getting a game going to just flat out end it on the spot. Having said that if I would remove all the infinite combo and focus more on squirrels and sacrifices, this would be a really fun deck to play, who doesn't like tokens, or squirrels?

Dowsing dagger is a extremely efficient ramp spell equipment token maker, my favorite card in my chatterfang!

Surprised this combo isn't talked much about but Butcher of Malakir. He's a 7 drop, but each and every squirrel Chatterfang sacs forces all opponents to sac a creature. You can control and clear boards INCREDIBLY fast with those two going off. And it gets around pretty much all kinds of protection. For a Chatterfang deck designed around death triggers, I also like Demonmail Hauberk. Equip cost is to sac a creature. If you don't have the mana for death triggers, you can just swap that around between squirrels as much as you want to kill them all. Maybe I'm missing something about these cards that don't make them as powerful as I think? Hope it helps!

I like Arasta in my Chatterfang deck since there isn't many other ways to fend off flying attacks that also synergize with Chatterfang. It is not super reliable though since it does rely on other players to do things but I think 4 mana for some flyer insurance can be worth it.

Chatterfang is a golgari commander, because his activated ability costs black to activate. Count all the coloured mana symbols on the card, not just mana cost
