After world war 2, Poland was still not free. The Russians took over and Poland suffered until 1989 under the Russian communism. After 1989 Poland was able to build up their country again and they have done good. One time in your life you should visit it, it's worth it.

Actually, the Soviets (not Russians) installed a Polish Communist puppet regime. Poland was a member of the UN and closely tied to the USSR through the Warsaw Pact until 1989.

@@robertos1129 When communism was imposed on Poland and other Central European countries the two top men in the Soviet Union were Stalin who was a Georgian and Beria who was an Azerbaijan. I am not lying when presenting the fact that there was a SOVIET UNION made up of ethnically diverse Soviet Republics. So stop calling me a liar when I am being technically correct when talking about a period when Russia and the states it annexed became the Soviet Union. Even today after the collapse of the Soviet Union we have a Russian Federation made up of 120 ethnic nationalities living in their traditional lands so do your research. However, the Kremlin was in Moscow and it ruled the rest of the Soviet Union with an Iron Fist, but let's be clear not all running the show from the Kremlin were ethnic Russians. Even the pioneers of Bolshevism were not ethnic Russian. Lenin came from a Tartar, Jewish, and Swedish origins, Trotsky was a Jew, and the founder of the brutal Cheka (a precursor to the NKVD) that murdered thousands of Russians was Feliks Dzierzynski who was born into a Polish noble family. These were Soviets and not Russians. I don't care much for Russians per se who revise history and try to blame Poland for starting WW2. In fact, I am starting to hate the bastards after seeing their BS and hate posts all over the net. But, I will NOT be called a liar for referring to the Soviets during the period of history when there was the Soviet Union. It also feeds into the stupid notion that the Russians won the war when in fact the Red Army comprised millions of men and women who were not all ethnically Russian.

@@ronaldostrowski4014 Nah Poland was invaded by the Russian country and then occupied by the same country after the war and I don't care where the leaders of the Soviets where from its the same with Hitler just because he was Austrian doesn't mean that Poland was not invaded by Germany and then occupied by them so when you say it's not Russians it's the Soviets that is a lie at least you should say Soviet Russia because that is where the enemy came from.

As someone from the Netherlands and having my Grandpa enduring the war, it was something he wasn't keen on talking about and still had nightmares from it in his 80's from time to time. One of the moments that was of great impact on him that he did talk about, was from when the war was near it's end. He was forced labourer near Berlin city in Germany and when the allied forces where making their move to Berlin, he did see an opportunity from escaping the Nazi camp into a forest with Nazi soldiers with dogs chasing him and shooting, then from the other side Russian allied forces see my grandpa running towards them thinking he was a German and started shooting at him as well. Getting caught in a crossfire of both sides, somehow miraculously he managed to escape dodging all the bullets through the forest. Making his way back on foot until he came across friendly Canadian soldiers who helped him back towards the Netherlands.

There is a Polish proverb: "umiesz liczyć? licz na siebie" (you can count? - count on yourself/ do you believe someone else ? -only believe yourself - the translator may not be able to convey the depth of his thoughts ) Alliances are good in times of peace. During a trial of war, you learn the value of your allies. Geography is what it is and we do not mention it. Poland is still between Germany and Russia. After what the US showed in Afghanistan ... a tragedy. End of comment.

Russia invaded Poland without a declaration of war on 17th September 1939 - 16 days after the Germans. The Russian military had long memories and resented all of their earlier defeats by Poland (with Lithuania and Sweden). The Brits tried to resupply the Poles but the Russians would not co-operate - no refuelling, no fighter cover, no emergency bases etc.... I read a British bomber pilot's account - based in Italy and Yugoslavia with the partisans, flying an old Stirling, who tried to help. I also read a German night-fighter pilot's account of the war and this battle - including catching unescorted, old British supply planes heading for Warsaw in daylight - which became a "turkey-shoot". Entire RAF supply squadrons disobeyed orders and tried to deliver the supplies as promised. Not all of the Allies abandoned Warsaw!

If I may suggest you something watch a movie called "Warsaw '44". It's actually about Warsaw Uprising. It's a Polish movie but done in Hollywood style. Worth watching. It has English translation of course. And it's available on Netflix. EDIT: I wrote this comment during watching this video. At the end those guys says that non of the movie can actually show how horrible this actually was. But I think that this movie actually shows it - probably not in 100% nor the same traumatic way as it really was - but at least it's closest to what movie can show you comapred to real nightmare. Also at the end of the movie there's fine scene which shows burned Warsaw from the other end of Vistula which slowly transition into the picture of current Warsaw as of 2020. Really fine scene. I'm not proposing this movie to you because I'm Pole (or kinda I do) but mostly because it's really good movie.

13:05 you're mistaking Russia for Germany. It's said earlier, that the personal Hitler's SS-men are sent to Warsaw, the worst of the worst, due to lack of other available forces. Here, it's the Soviets who're calling Polish insurgents "bandits". It's an important fact, since after the war the insurgents were incarserated, prosecuted over some bs charges, tortured, executed, and called exactly that, "bandits", by the communist propaganda. Cheers!

Then Poland didn't gain freedom until 1989, but even then they weren't free of the propaganda. The bravery in their history was almost completely wiped out. Sabaton reviving those memories is why the band is so beloved there.

Stalin had a plan to take over Poland after the war and it was in his interest to destroy any remains of independent Poland to have a nation at its knees. He succeeded to take over Poland with the help of Roosevelt and Churchill, who not only didn't do anything to enable Poland to be free but also helped Stalin to occupy Poland and make it communistic, contrary to their promises to Polish government. Stalin failed at one thing: He occupied Poland for 53 years with the power of Soviet Union but during these 53 years Polish people have never stopped fighting. We didn't want to be slaves, Communist or anything that Stalin, Roosevelt and Churchil wanted to make us. We wanted to be free people, who we became because we do not beg for freedom, we fight for it: kzbin.info/www/bejne/h2mbcp6EZs2Bj68&ab_channel=IPNtvPL

War much like anything else is 40% fighting and 60% politics ie motivating the people to fight as well as research and development and diplomacy between allies where even in Britain where the had many brave colonial forces had to delegate as well as incentives them to fight, as well as posting them into specific areas ie Indians in either Africa or the rugged jungles of Asia vs the more colder European theatres like Italy or France for the Canadians ( and this is just a minor example since troops were deployed anywhere wherever needed but would be preferably deployed in or around similar environments due to their skills in said environment ie the Gurkhas are fearsome jungle fighters and so were mostly stationed in the pacific theatre), not to mention having to control and maintain discipline amongst the wide and diverse cultures expected to work together.

@@maciejbartoszewicz5229Jewish insurgents didn't commit a ritual seppuku but were fighting Germans to death even with limited weapons they had. It seems you don't know, but they also had a choice. Some of them had been offered to leave the city and join Polish Home Army guerrilla but instead they chose to fight Germans to protect their families and friends remaining in the ghetto. So it's really hard to understand your point. Unless you wish to say their fighting was less worthy? If so, please change your attitude. It's every "race" existing today which has invaded, absorbed or exterminated the "original" inhabitants! Tasmanian Aboriginals originally inhabited all of Australia but.... The "hobbits" inhabited Flores, the larger islands to the west and the islands heading east but..... Today - Arabs in North Africa, Indonesians in West Papua....... Human nature at its' most basic and animal, survive and reproduce at any cost..... People suck!
