I've been a bit sceptical of the concept of this channel to be honest. I've always been very careful with pop history. But you know what? I was wrong. It's not just that your research is top notch, but also that you _approach_ whatever story the song is about from the right perspective, focusing headfirst on both quantifiable facts but also on the interpersonal culture and societal feelings surrounding it, which is so critical. When talking about the Thirty Years' War, for example, it's easy to get bogged down in talking about Dutch innovative infantry formations or the short-sightedness of the Imperial Doctrine, which leaves out the much bigger surrounding picture of the conflict being, proportionately, the most destructive in European history. I've literally never, in my entire time on this earth, seen any KZbin video talk about the Caroleans and the Great Northern War in an accurate way (Partly because Swedish sources are almost never translated) but you guys did it. You made an accurate video about the Caroleans. For the first time in ages, I don't have to write a 10-paragraph comment explaining the fundamental errors of a video about Caroleans. Thank you, so much. Like, when discussing the overwhelming _shock_ of a Carolean charge (Voltaire summarised it quite well: "All who have served with the Swedes know that it is nearly impossible to resist their first charge"), you _can_ include the fact that Caroleans had a habit of loading two or three smaller bullets instead of one regular one, essentially turning their muskets into primitive shotguns, or that the standard distance was between 10-20 paces from the enemy, but it doesn't really matter for the overall point of what Carolean tactics encompassed. I really do appreciate the emphasis on the personal motivations and discipline that was required for the execution of Swedish Shock Tactics. It's important to remember that soldiers are not faceless clones whose sole purpose is to do battle. Great job guys, really! 🤘 Jag undar, tittade någon av er på Armémusets dokumentär om Slaget vid Fraustadt under forskningen för den här videon? (Eller, framförallt, den eventuella framtida videon om "Killing Ground"?)

If you tell the same student that the Baltic Sea was once known as the Swedish lake, he/she will think you're misinformed (without having the ability to point at the Baltic on a map). If you suggest that the last two kings to die in battle were Swedes, the defer to google. This channel is fucking awesome. Can’t wait till we get to “the last stand” and “resist and bite”. Especially “resist and bite” because that is such a badass story.

Fader vår som är i himmelen helgat varde ditt namn Tillkomme ditt rike, ske din vilja Såsom i himmelen så ock uppå jorden, ge oss bröd ock idag Och förlåt oss våran skuld This is my absolutely favorite moment in a Sabaton song, because of you I know this prayer by heart now. Thank you for this song.

So here I'm sitting in a bus, listening to the choir and metal of you and somebody is cutting onions here I swear.. All jokes aside, I really love history and metal and to hear this it gives me the chills. Keep on the good work guys!!

Why should a warrior fear death for the warrior's death is the most glorious!- probably some Viking at some point

The fact about how they said a death was predetermined by god ties closely with the culture of the north because the Vikings had a similar thought, who was going to die was already decided before battle and so you shouldn't worry about it just charge ahead with no fear and show the enemy you're ready for Valhalla

Kings from Swedish lands have lead men and died in battle in the east since long before the viking age ;)
