He was around earlier this year, but then there was a big visa issue with the CMLL group who were "invading" AEW, so they all disappeared. I'm assuming it's cleared up now, just in time for Forbidden Door.

What I like about him is that he looks a lot like pre-DARK KNIGHT RISES Bane. I say we give him the full "Batman" treatment and put white highlights on his mask.

The eliminator matches are becoming one of my biggest gripes about AEW. I like the concept, I like seeing champions in action on a regular basis, but the challenger needs to win one every now and then. This would be a great way to start a feud. As much as I love Moxley, Takeshita should have won at Double or Nothing. It would have made for better story (IMO), given a reason for another great match and restored a bit of faith in the eliminator concept.

They are in a middle of a power struggle. It sometimes makes sense that if the Bucks are booking matches, they would throw out the rankings. Everything they are doing per story is to tear down Tony Khan’s misdoings. That doesn’t necessarily mean that it makes sense when Mercedes’ first match in the company is a title match though. So they do need to be more consistent. Although what might’ve happened is that Julia Hart’s injury ruined other plans and Willow had to be a transitional champion, as much as I don’t like it.

I would love to see a third party come in and steal Osprey's title shot, someone really unexpected giving him a short-term fake injury after an attack, like Keith Lee, Scorpio Sky, Ricky Starks, or Sammy Guevara. I agree, itt feels too early for Swerve v. Osprey. This could be a way to build anticipation.

I agree with you on Championship Eliminator Matches. I've been sick of them for over a year. Just put the belts on the line, since the Champions always win. For deciding a contender, it's best to stick with a #1 Contender's Match. These can build momentum and produce an exciting match without directly involving the Champion.

Totally agree with the whole eliminator stuff, it has always undermined the rankings - like maybe it would be ok if it was just for the TNT title to make it unique but doing it across all titles is ridiculous and equally regarding the rankings, having people just constantly win to inflate their ranking and justify them getting a match, takes the suspense out of seeing someone earn a shot because it becomes obvious who is going to be the number one contender. Also I don't get why Callis would pick Trent after he has lost to OC twice, I understand heel and heel obviously but if you were a manager, would you pluck for the guy that has effectively lost the feud, no. And Trent has lost twice, more or less clean without interference and because of his own failed shenanigans, I think he should have absolutely battered OC and gone on a tear, and maybe send OC away for a while because I think his schtick is getting a bit tired now.

I was alive for the rise and fall of WcW and don't want AEW to fail but to be as great as it can be. It's certainly a positive thing for the workers to have at least a few options besides WWE but let's be honest, Tony needs assistance with booking. He has plenty of talent but I've seen folks like Hook, Britt Baker, Adam Cole, Wardlow, Jamie Hayter, MJF, CM Punk and others get wildly popular....only to end up hurt (which happens) or to just go cold prematurely. I think that's what buddy buddy was alluding to, of sorts.

Just to clarify, I do not “hate” AEW. Again, I appreciate the fact we have an alternative. I say current AEW is bad, the burial of such stars, MJF, Jay White, Keith Lee (granted injuries), Miro, Baker, to name a few. It’s mismanaged and it seriously shows in the product (hence wrestlers showing their frustration and choosing to leave). I’ve been watching wrestling for the best part of the last 30 years and it’s nice to see competition again - decent competition - I just only wish it would improve.

I agree, the only thing I wish they would do SHOW a random timer that the audience can always see ( not just the 5,4,3,2,1) that way it builds up another person coming in, like the royal rumble, BUT with the random timer to keep it different. Imagine an unknown wrestler showing up in 55 seconds, then the next one 3 minutes etc. The announcer could use that into the commentary to, especially if a wrestler is in a submission hold.

I can agree with the idea about the Eliminators not being super great in terms of not having any drama behind it, buy Moxley did make Rocky Romero seem like a legitimate challenger prior to the match, and though I didn't expect Rocky to win, I think Rocky had a better match with Mox than Takeshita did at DoN, which is a wild sentence to say, but I really enjoyed last night's bout and was underwhelmed by the PPV bout.

I liked this episode, but I had two problems. First, the Sky Blue attack and subsequent title match were terrible for her. She attacked Mercedes only to get destroyed in the match, which was kind of a waste. Second, Ospreay vs. Swerve feels like it's happening too soon. I hope there will be more story than just someone winning a battle royal, getting the match, and ending Swerve's reign. Fingers crossed.

Mone's Meteoras are a thing of beauty, it's one of my favorite moves ( along with shotgun dropkicks, i know I'm weird) but she like glides right through them. One thing I don't think the main event is 100% set yet, I really Believe a NJPW and maybe a CMLL wrestler will be added to it to make it a 3 or 4 way. I also think this match will be the "breaking point" for Callis because I can see him being told to use the Tiger Driver, but Ospreay doesn't and he eventually loses the match

7:46 Simon is 100% right on this. AEW drew me in when Private Party shocked the crowd eliminating the Young Bucks from the tag title tournament. Things were not formulaic & predictable back then, those two things aren’t necessarily a bad thing when the story & matches are done well. It’s now becoming pointless to even invest.

Usually with you, Simon, but personally found this to be one of the worst Dynamites I've seen in ages. There were some positives of course. Advancing Bryan Keith, Trent joining Don Callis, Mone's strong Cappy Land in-ring debut. But some of your points build on why I really didn't dig this show. The Jericho talk segment was cringy in the extreme and made me long for Britt Baker's Doctor Office segment. The pointless matches. Eliminator match was one thing. Eliminator match with a day tripper like Rocky Romero was like a double down for me. Romero's talented enough but burned out on him many moons ago. Having to pray Lio Rush's return in the gauntlet is a one off. Just wasn't the best showing in general for Dynamite where this audience of one was concerned.
