The belt itself is beautiful. Perfect blend of designs from different eras. The problem is that it invalidates a lot of what was done with Roman. You might as well just have him holding one belt, or have made him defend them separately.

The Roman storyline has invalidated itself. I can't think of a single title defense he has won without some kind of bs happening. He's a joke. So glad we'll finally have a champion worth paying attention to. I skip damn near every bloodline segment at this point. Watching the exact same thing every match for 3 years is boring af. And the fact that the bloodline takes up so much of both smackdown and raw is ridiculous. They are just taking time away from other superstars. And the way triple h buried Roman was beautiful. Bringing back the WHC is the right move. That is the only title within the WWE right now that could match the prestige and legacy of the WWE Championship and vice versa. Roman’s 2 belts will be merged, and will only be called as WWE Heavyweight Championship, because he is just too tired of always carrying 2 belts at the same time. And with the WWE’s roster right now, it is only logical to split the brands and focus on each show separately, and to give others the chance to shine as well, especially those who deserves it much.

I really hope Seth Rollins wins this belt. He's the only person Roman hasn't defeated and had the WWE title remained on RAW, Seth would be killing it as champion. Also I saw how Finn Balor was looking at that title during his match with Cody. I say we run it back from Summerslam 2016 and have Seth v Finn for the title at Night of Champions. Don't give it to Cody yet though, because it's gonna feel like a consolation title. Have Cody run it back with Roman one more time.

The title makes sense from a sports perspective. Even though we all know Professional Wrestling is fake, the industry still asks us to believe that the sport is “real” or “not scripted”. Triple H basically came out and explained how their top champion is basically holding the top titles hostage and thus the company is forced to create a new belt that could be defended. In boxing, this often happens and most people don’t complain. The only way I see this ending is by having the new World Heavyweight Champ defeat Roman and Unify the belts as some point. My opinion tho.

I'm glad they brought in a new main belt/championship. If Roman isn't going to be defending his title every month at each PPV (yes I'm calling them PPV and will always call them that.. Premium Live Event is just stupid, and once UFC completely takes over, I bet they go back to being PPV), then there needs to be another main champion. Why they allowed Roman to win both Raw and SmackDown titles, but hardly ever defend them, is beyond me. People want to see a championship match at each PPV.

One reason they may take the belts off of Sami and Owens is because of Night of Champions. Owens and Zayn never work Saudi shows, so if you want the tag titles defended there, they have to drop them. On one point, why have a night of champions if some champs won’t be there, but obviously it’s because they want to crown the new World Champion on that show. It’s awkward and backed into a corner, but that seems to be the reasons they’re doing this.

Which just brings to mind one of my biggest reasons outside of the non-wrestling reasons why I’ve hated this deal with the Saudi’s …HOWEVER if I could fantasy book for a moment here…they could save this by pulling a fast one and having each team end up getting a pin on another team in a case of referee confusion Basically I’m looking at a way to have Adam Pearce basically call the match a draw but to compensate for the Uso’s getting a pin decides to split the tag titles and grant them one set and leave the other with KO and Sami This way they can partially keep their promise to Roman, though he will still be pissed cause they didn’t reclaim ALL the tag gold, and allow at least one set of tag titles to be defended in Saudi with another team like say the Street Profits or maybe Matt Riddle and a returning Randy Orton This also builds on the fact of having a tag title set per show but also has to account for the fact that Trips keeps control of this aspect and keeps Vince away seeing as how much he HATES Tag Team Wrestling

@@arashitendou5941 Pretty good idea. What I think might happen is Owens and Zayn drop the belts back to Usos but Reigns still berates them for losing in the first place. Judgment Day now has beef with the Bloodline, so they challenge in Saudi. Meanwhile, Owens and Zayn get drafted to different shows, so the only way they stay together is their tag title rematch. They lose, and 'they never team again!'. A third rubber match with even higher stakes and then you give them Owens and Zayn the Tag titles back.

Was thinking something like that could happen, the promo had more than enough shade thrown at Roman over not being around, I can see Roman being pissed that they're "trying to take away his rule of wwe" anyway, and the barbs would just piss him off more. I can see him demanding a title shot because he should be the only champion and winning it. Then carrying around 3 belts with the big gold one in the center, before the old designs get phased out and someone beats him for the one version of the titles left over.

The Seth Omos thing was something different. Building backwards as opposed to the usual “wrestler stands in the ring. Wrestler gets interrupted. Wrestler 2 says gee match. Wrestler 1 says ok. Then we have a match”. Credit to the WWE for trying it. You don’t always have to do the same thing.

Bringing new title into a mix for main even guys is a good thing since there are so many main event level guys stretch over 2 shows that are currently stuck in various feuds phase it's not even fun. At the end of the day, the world heavyweight championship looks better and more prestigious than both of Roman’s titles. I know the timing absolutely sucks but in the end all of this will be really cool and meaningful. Also it’s long overdue to kill the Universal title. (The actual title approaching 1,000 days). Cool, nice belt. Terrible, terrible reason and timing for introducing it. Playing inside baseball about roman and the 1000 days thing almost made it worse after I thought about it. It just made their decision around Rhodes and wrestlemania seem even more like one they couldn't long term support. They just.....want their kayfabe 1000 day reign thing to happen. Raw felt like it was shuffled up just minutes before they went on air. I definitely think Vince McMahon was making changes because the matches felt a lot slower.

If they do it right, the new belt can work fine. They just need to highlite the fact that the world championship is considered the #2 title to the Universal belt.

I like the idea of having two big main event titles again personally. I don't think it invalidates everything Roman has done, he still has THE title, the prestigious WWE championship (I imagine the Universal will go away). It's not like this is a second WWE title, it's the return of the WHC belt, and it definitely needs to go to Seth, and Cody can still fight for another shot at Roman.

If they give Gunther the title, and give him a similar run like he had with the IC title, and have everyone come after him, while Roman is nowhere to be seen, this title could overshadow Roman's title. With Vince back, and WWE's obsession with Roman, I doubt it'll happen, but the opportunity is there to make this massive.

I like the new belt design...I understand the argument that it diminishes Reigns..err, reign, but WWE clearly arent ready to move the belts off Roman yet and I'm guessing that USA wants a World Champion on thier show again..sooo, it is what it is. Overall though, alleged VKM script rewrites or not, I thought this was a pretty solid episode with some good matches...and thats all I'm really looking for. Thanks Simion for your work.

I think the belt is actually pretty good, within the limitations they obviously had of placing the logo that prominently... ... but this roll-out basically makes the World Heavyweight Championship feel like a second class title. Like, if they put this on Cody it will feel like a cop-out - he was out to win the linear WWF/WWE championship, and that will STILL be on Roman's waist

I don’t think Seth or Cody should win the new title. As Seth said, Roman has never beaten him, so let Seth dethrone Roman; then Seth & Cody can add another chapter to their rivalry where Cody wins the wwe undisputed title. Give the new title to someone like LA Knight, Karrion Kross, or Montez Ford. Build up a new star
