UPS driver dies suddenly on the job

UPS delivery driver Esteban Chavez died suddenly on the job, days after celebrating his 24th birthday. His family fears he may have died from heat stroke.

My sincere condolences 🙏 I work for DHL EXPRESS and they make sure all our trucks have air conditioning in the summer and heat in the winter. My heart is broken hearing this sad news. 😔🥺

No air conditioned trucks, small fans, no decent air ventilation. Ups will take no responsibility for this claiming "we tell our drivers to properly hydrate, and give tips and tricks to stay cool, we have safety meetings daily and send messages out daily on proper diet and hydration, we offer electrolyte mixes and blah blah blah..." they could atleast pay for the services. No family should have to burden the expense of death on the job funerals.

The family have a lawsuit, the UPS use truck no air conditioner to safe fuel and high company earnings. The truck have high temperatures 152 degrees, no high drink, ice, or IV fluid in high temperature is death.

Sad Condolences to the family but I feel Unless this was a freak incident There has to be something more to this us Tradesmen ( 20 years HVAC) are getting into attics when it's over 100⁰+ outside and it's sweltering in the attic. He was young the temperature was only upper 90s he should Have been able to handle that fairly easy.

Dunno how they do things at the hubs in LA but where Im at you have to work your way up to be a driver. Takes 6 - 8 years atleast, and even then you're a cover driver for a year or two.

Of course you can’t relate you’re in the attic like a pregnant rat. He was in and out of the truck carrying up to 70 lbs. 90 outside means it was 110-120 inside the truck. Don’t downplay his death, because hell is much hotter than your attic space.

We at UPS are very saddend about our employees death no you're not UPS shut up. This is not the first time they have had someone almost collapse this time the person died unfortunately that's sad. However none of those people at the top care. It won't get them to put any air conditionings in their trucks. They knew from the beginning that this could happen they just didn't care what could have happened. It is deadly to be out in this heat and this is proof but they didn't care that this could happen. In fact they don't even care now that it did happen. They will just continue to not have air conditioning on their trucks they don't care about their employees life if they die they die that's how they think. The only thing that they know is if you go after their wallet and sue them.

It wasn't that hot, What happens when the temp are in the 100's is there an increase in deaths of UPS drivers? No they all take the proper steps to stay safe. they keep saying it's heat exhaustion but it may be something else.
