UPS Drivers Test Arrival Van for the First Time | ARRIVAL

Arrival and UPS have been working together to design the best possible electric vehicle for drivers.
We recently took our prototype Van to the UPS depot in Camden, London for UPS drivers to give feedback on the vehicle for the very first time. It is vitally important, even at this early stage, that we take the opinion of drivers on board to ensure the best driver experience possible and will continue to work with UPS to do that throughout the process.

They should be. Although they are certainly much further behind. They are literally only testing out a few electric converted ones based on the model they are already using, which means it doesn’t look really much different. And it’s only for a short term trial run and then they will go away and see if they will adopt it full time for the whole area. Once again showing that the government side of things are moving pitifully slower than the corporate side.

@@procatprocat9647 yeah that’s not what he means. I agree with him, I’m not going to play a recording every time an electric delivery truck comes to my house. There’s something great about going to a place like the airport and smell the jet fuel and the sound of those diesel bus engines, you can’t get that in a recording. People 100 years from now won’t even know what I’m talking about. It’s a car guy thing, it’s an experience, and sadly others won’t be able to experience that, environmentalists won’t understand that. I do agree we need to start making changes to help our environment, but I’m going to be driving a car with a gas engine and savor the experiences of motors roaring down the roadway for a long time.

UPS, in the USA, last mile vehicles are much larger, have much more mass to carry each trip, and travel longer distances than this UK UPS division does. BEVs are great for short distance, relatively low mass load cargo, in mild weather.
@jimurrata6785
@jimurrata6785 3 жыл бұрын
@@davidhoffman1278 Plenty of range now. BEV are ideal for all the start and stop of delivery vehicles because of 100% torque and all the regen stopping. Having a dedicated depot to recharge at night and the lack of constant maintenance needed for ICE vehicles, not to mention the favorable energy per mile cost are all +++. Bigger? Yes, American box trucks _are_ bigger, mostly because American roads are bigger. But I guess we'll see how Amazon implements this.

Packages are "lip-loaded" which is suppose to give them a slight angle back toward the walls. It doesn't really keep them from falling. Once curb and everything is all over the floor. Since the door is often left open while driving, a cooled seat could help drivers stay safe and cool while driving without wasting too much fuel. a vent like Mercedes has with their "airscarf" could be amazing on hot days. In all of the vehicles you've showcased in the past, the exterior just as super impressive as every other element. The front in particular on these UPS vehicles looks like the cheap attempts at EVs from the 80s. Again, I love the fact that they're being implemented in the package delivery industry, but the look of the vehicles themselves leave a lot to be desired.

Cool car. Couldn't fit my 180 stops, 350+ pieces a day in it though. Also would need a collapsible driver side door for hot days and ability to make deliveries on driver side of car.

I strongly believe in what you are doing, I love electric and I believe small and personal vehicles should have never been gas powered, but here we are. With this in mind, we, not costumer but spectators, want to heard what those people in this video, that lady who liked the visibility, and the man who didnt want "this sliding around" have to say BAD about the vehicles, we want to learn as you do, hear as you do... I trust you, lets make more and more people trust you and trust electric vehicles companies. Id love to show my "non believers friends" that electric vehicles companies are NOT what most current car manufacters are, and that the future is headed towards a more costumer and planet oriented business. (Sorry about my english!. Great video.!)

One thing that you really need to add is better flasher lights at night even with their regular flashers on and their dark clothing it's hard to see you them in the neighborhood setting. And now with this electric van it's hard to tell when they're coming you always know when they show up from their squeaky brakes LOL now they can sneak on in

Looks nice, bad coil whine at 2:35 and 2:58 though, hopefully that gets fixed before deployment

These look great and i expect to see a lot of them around the place... my only question is, is this design of Arrival van replacing the smaller one that has been around for a while or is that van also going to be built?

This is the replacement for the old design van that was tested with the Royal Mail. They got a smaller van in the works and a bus and as Robert has nearly spilt a few times they have a electric car in the works as well.

Make the rear wheel well covers flat on top. If you all don't know why, try packing out a truck during peak season.

I work at Amazon Logistics so I drive 8hours a day too or more, its nice that UPS asks its drivers how the Van feels and drives. Amazon deadass would be like:,,Here ya go take your Merc Vito which is impractical because you need to walk around the car to get the package. Oh and while your at it, here are your 300 packages. You have 5 hours to deliver them with a route that does not make any sense.'' So props to UPS

@@bittasweetsymphony726 Not homeless. The home moves with you. The main difference is that you don't have to pay council tax, etc, etc, and don't have the same boring view of your wheelie bins every day.

Must be nice, most of our fleet are u-haul or budget trucks no shelves! Apparently we aren't able to get more package cars.
