Sorry to hear they nailed you with on demands. I just finished my first week of driving. My on road sup only rode two and a half days with me. I did get one on demand on my fourth day and he sent a reminder note to my diad when I was a block from the stop. I had to call the center tho to get instructions on how to clear the stop from my board. I have been doing something like 190 stops on heavy days including my pickups and there’s around two dozen pickups on my training route. I haven’t been able to get off all of my stops before pickups so I have to make sure to get my business stops off, do pickups, drop of any airs and internationals at the center, then go out and finish the residential stops. I am getting close to getting off all of the deliveries before pickups but maybe in another week I’ll get the area dialed in. My center manager and on road sup are decent guys. They actually seem to want me to succeed. I seem to be treated better at my local ups better than when I was a Fedex Ground driver.... the work in harder, but I get treated better at ups. Also, I got forced into doing Saturday airs this Saturday, and it actually was fun. Hardly any packages to deliver and it was all purely overtime since it was my sixth day on the job. Easy money... oh.... and orion is really frustrating at times
@YuukitheMighty1 Жыл бұрын
17 on demand pickups is ridiculous. I feel like you were set up for failure from the jump. I'm almost done with my 30 day packet and at most I've had 3 on demands and they were close together. My first week I had between 100-110 stops, but by my second week alone I had 140 to 160 stops including pickups. You have to kiss management's ass, skip breaks, and cut corners (while being safe).

UPS is suppose to do a 3 in 1 out system. 3 people from within the company (preload/any other position) then 1 street hire. Most of the time they don't but we have 2 drivers at my center that were street hires. I would assume big hubs do it more frequently but I'm not sure.

@fl_atv_riders4455 ugh thats horrible and so soon. Last test would be peak season for december when your stops go to 350 and you can't see more than a few inches inside your truck. Always fun. While i would agree any starting position has to be the hardest experience in nearly any job that i know of outside of the military, the rewards after all that is not bad. I've been at ups since i was 17 am 34 now in feeders division. Even the training for tractor trailers is nearly non existant...so dangerous, give us 2 weeks to master a tractor trailer from scratch while normaly it should be a few months for most 😅. The tough training while horrible also builds a strong attention to detail and problem solving skills...best thing any new hire can do is constantly ask questions and call supervisor for any little thing you're not sure of. Never lie about a mistake or hide it. Also you can fail but try again after a few months. For those with no education or any real plans for the future ups can be a great and rewarding career. In the end doesn't matter what job one has but what one does with the money they earn. Save, invest into crypto, stocks real estate etc...the goal should be to increase income > increase investments > increase passive income > reach financial freedom > live the life you want to live.

A lot of what he's saying from the whole series is facts. If everything you're saying is accurate, seems like you got dealt some pretty sh_tty cards. 17 ODPU for a guy in his 30 still learning the route is bogus. I would have sent a message to ORS and asked what gives with all the ODPU requests. This series was very entertaining and a nice trip down memory lane although unfortunately things didn't work out for you.

@fl_atv_riders44555 жыл бұрын
@@chriskennedy8514 From what a friend told me. They always hire more than needed because so many people fail the class or the probation period. In this case the 1 person they wanted failed the class so they put the rest of us in inpossible routes to train in, no one has ever passed 3 of the 6 routes and i was in one of the 3. You have better odds then my group because we were all hired off the street. If you fail just have to wait 6 months.

You have a horrible idea of Ups you must be completely new. Your on route days you need to be taking notes, in integrad you should have had notes to begin with. Ask questions. And if u don’t make the 30 day you have to wait 6 months to try again. You got no clue what ur talking about. I just finished integrad and am going into my 30 days , but I’ve been there part time for 3 years. You must not ask questions. And the on demands are curve balls they want to stress you to see if u can adapt and move forward. It’s not an easy job just might not be for you. You take ur criticism and move forward. Take notes and take it smooth and slow. You have a very biased opinion and that’s obvious that u didn’t pay much attention or use your notes or ask as many questions as possible

First thing first is this video is making you sound very butthurt and just not making you look good at all. #2 anyone would have been failed for doing what you did. It’s called a service failure just like if you would have late air or missed business. Which I’m pretty sure you were exaggerating the work anyways. #3 they can throw whatever work or pickups on the route as long as it is still within the route area. So whatever info you got is incorrect. Only correct info you have is that during the 30 days, you are walking on eggshells because you can get disqualified but for only (safety reasons, service failures, production, telematics, or dishonesty). #4 unless you have a very weak union in your area, they cannot just disqualify anyone because they aren’t liked (if they do, the union would be able to appeal) lastly you mention they are screwing over hard workers which is impossible because management only cares about their numbers, so if someone is a hard worker and can produce those numbers for at least those 30 days, they will definitely want you on the team. Like another person commented. Some people are meant for the job and others aren’t, simple as that.
@fl_atv_riders44555 жыл бұрын
1st your not union until after your probation 2nd all they have to do is put you on a big route like had with tons of stops 3rd my supervisor told me they are not supposed to give people on their probation period any on demands because they know you will be behind. 4th 7 people hired 6 passed class all dq for questionable things. All routes where 150+ stops, all of the other drivers told those of us that new a few that none of us 6 was expected to pass.
