I don’t like his writing, but I’ve met Henry multiple times and he’s a lovely person, and incredibly passionate about football. Nice to see him acknowledge his privilege and talk about how his point of view has changed after meeting people from different backgrounds through his work.
@WaniZame7 ай бұрын
I’ve never been a fan of Henry’s writing, he is overly descriptive and melodramatic for me BUT his passion for the industry really is infectious. I do think he blows a bit too much smoke up players arses and I think that’s the real reason he has such good relationships in the game but I do hope he gets to continue his career elsewhere as he’s a great advocate. With his upbringing and background he could have picked his career path but broke out of the mould and has mixed in with the proles and having people like Henry advocating for the working classes and how hard we work to the bourgeoise is so important.

Oh, it's such an honour to have an educated man speaking up for we, the proletariat. We can barely formulate a sentence, so to have someone from the upper classes defend our beautiful game is, indeed, an honour and a privilelege. And we should all be thankful as he he delivers his largesse upon our unworthy souls.

Replace the spineless bureaucrats at FA, PL, EFL, who punish real, match attending supporters for the results of their own failings, and subjecting them to crap like VAR. Put community clubs and proper supporters first. Never mentioned in the FA cup replay debate is the positive experience of an forcing an away leg at ground you'll never visit or seeing a big club on your own turf. Which can swell a crowd and give people their first live match experience. PUT SUPPORTERS FIRST And I mean supporters - Someone who physically turns up and supports the team, everyone else are fans.

How to fix global football? Introduce salary caps so that teams with insane revenue due to their history can't dominate. FFP is designed for the wealthy teams. Not Fairplay. Also, let Turkey, Greece have automatic champions league spots. Not Italy 6 😂 I'm Italian btw but I miss the days of Galatasaray and Olympiacos facing off. The financial corruption is disgusting. Forest and Everton penalised over a handful of issues. Leeds decimated over the last 2 decades but city and 115+ dodgy dealings go on to win trebles? Yes, FFP all the way. 🤮

26:50 'Ferguson tactically inept,' 'what was he playing at' and changing '900 words criticising Ferguson' to everything being changed in the blink of an eye over 2 last minute goals. Understandably the headlines will change because the outcome changed but the the performance and tactics through the game were still the same. Did his 900 words of criticism turn into 900 words of praise because if so, the praise and the article wouldn't be very genuine. I get he can't have a full article criticising the new Champions of Europe but I wonder how much of the initial criticism remained. Not getting at him, just genuinely curious.

@MartinGreen9327 ай бұрын
Woke has nothing to do with compassion. It is an obsession with gender, race and sex. It has led to quoters and `positive discrimination' - which is basically reverse racism. Biological men competing in women's sport, going into women's safe spaces and going into women's prisons. Huge numbers of women and the gay population believe it has done huge damage to progress that has been made on inequality for those groups in recent years. It has also led to thousands of people losing jobs/work because they do not conform to woke ideological but irrational beliefs.

Saying it was just their hard work implies that the millions/billions of others who aren’t footballers or millionaires don’t work hard. “You’re poor? Well, why not work a bit harder and you’ll be loaded in a few months!” It’s such a lazy thing to say and he’s either 100% blowing smoke up their arses or he’s just proving that he’s a product of his environment.

The problems are off the pitch, but attention seems to be about fixing on pitch problems and has actually opened doors for further corruption. Greed and a form of nepotism where football favours the powerful is killing the game. Best use of VAR would have been to stop diving but doesn't get used for that. Diving is the worst part of the on-pitch problems but the bigger factor that's killing the game is the ridiculous inflation caused by greedy agents and players. Fans then get criticised for not going to games where 'normal' people are simply struggling with cost of living and then football clubs charge extortionate prices to fund the greed

The fact someone felt it needed to improve in first place is partly what broke it. VAR after 5 years of use has not improved the game, it's had a negative affect and failed in what it was intended to do. It should be either dropped or just used for the very obvious mistakes like yards off side, handbags off the ball missed by the ref etc Fixture congestion is an issue one thing it could do is reduce itself to one single cup competition, dump the league cup, FA trophy/Vase etc and have the FA cup open for all the tiers.
