📋 Puzzle Rules:
• Normal Sudoku rules apply.
• 5s live in Dutch Flats: All 5s in the grid must have a '1' directly above it or a '9' directly below it. It may have both, but it doesn't need both.
• Search 9: A digit in an arrow shows the distance to a cell containing a 9 in the indicated direction (not necessarily the 9 closest to it).

Started this one a bit slow, but then realized I wasn't following the dutch flats constraint fully, after which things went a lot better! 🙂 Completed in 15:17 (conflict checker off), many thanks to palpot for a great puzzle and to BremSter for presenting it!

It seems like you get easily distracted from a particular train of thought. Like where can 5 go in this puzzle. You explored a lot of the logic, but when you narrowed box 1 down to 3 cells, you got off on something else without finishing that. Neither of those first two columns could work because they couldn't have a 1 above. Even if the cell above wasn't already filled, it was an arrow pointing down. A 1 would have required a 9 below, not a 5.

Again at 28 minutes. You took 7 out of r6c9, then took 8 out of r6c7, but didn't look left to see a 67 in r6c3, which would have given you the 8 in the row.
