Ranger bands are handy. I've found I can cut them thinner, if I want less tensile strength and get more uses out of one band.

Altoid tins for EDC became obsolete about 20 years ago. There are so many better options. But there are many reasons why people moved on. I think one reason is that, rather than EDC, it became about clutter and glitz. 30, 40, 50 years ago, EDC was much more about necessity. Now, EDC is mostly useless junk. Yes, things I carried and valued 10 years ago that no longer suits my needs is today's junk. If I could find something today that would be an improvement on anything I carry, changes would be made. EDC has changed a bit in the last 200 years, but it has not changed all that much. Mostly, new EDC is modern versions of old EDC. Unfortunately, many modern EDC examples suffer from bloat, and are useless. One problem with the Altoids tin is that people feel that they must fill the tin. Almost invariably, they do fill the tin. In so doing, they include a lot of junk, but also exclude necessities. Their priorities are all wrong. In this video, the woman says she doesn't include her "good" stuff. Yep, it does a lot of good sitting somewhere else when you need it. Does she also leave her "good" body organs somewhere else? I buy stuff to use it--not so it can collect dust. Second-rate products are what I call junk. I carry the best of every EDC item. Whatever the criteria of need/use are, I find or make something to suit. Why would anyone carry anything that was not the most suited item to their wants/needs? Many people post videos that only show their lack of understanding of EDC. I submit that most Altoid tin videos fall into this category. This video, for example, sets the stage with the title, then gives use cases in the video. It seems she lost the plot, couldn't find the stage, and forgot about the performance. To be fair, this is not the worst Altoids tin EDC I have seen, but it seems the better choices were more by accident than design. It could be said that her EDC just does not work for me. I submit that, in the video, she showed how horribly it worked for her. I had nothing to do with this video. That was all her. A litany of failure. Some things were illegal or unsafe, but I was rather surprised to see so many issues. People usually cut out those types of failures and/or re-do the video.

I think keeping pills an meds together without protection can cause some cross contamination or something wrong can happen in your body, even they can expire. Could be better store pills in their own little packages in the little box. I love your videos, they are great. Greetings from Canada

Excellent idea! I’ve actually switched to using very small heavy duty ziplock bags and store 1 kind of medicine in each. I hadn’t thought about cross contamination tho. Mainly did it for labeling the medicine. Thank you so much!!! And thanks for watching!

Great presentation and a well stocked altoids tin...........so similar to mine ! Some electrician tape around the edge of the tin, zip ties, a decent sized needle with strong thread may be considered along with a couple of lifeboat matches should fit in the tin. I’ve made different kits out of Altoids tins over the years. I am not currently using one but in the past I’ve had a boo-boo kit and a sewing kit in one. I used the sewing kit one for years. I have a small leather pouch my sewing kit is in now. It is just a basic sewing kit with needles, buttons, safety pins, tape measure, foldable scissors and thread in it. Definitely handy for the mom of a kid in drama. It’s just meant for repairs mostly. My boo-boo kit sorta out grew the tin but I now have a large First Aid kit in my back up kinda bug out pack that stays in the truck and a small boo-boo kit in my purse pack which right now is a 5.11 LV 10 Sling. I have a tin that a knife came in that I have thought of pulling out for something but I’m not sure what yet. The Altoid tin might could hold some small tech stuff; cables and adapters and whatnot.

Love this. Sewing kits for the win!!! I don’t often have them in a smaller edc bag but they are often in my larger edc bags. What do you think of the lv 10? I’ve been eyeing the Lv 8. Looks awesome and I know 5.11 is durable

Instead of ranger bands, I use a bunch of rubber tourniquets I’ve collected (I’ve seen the inside of way too many hospital wards recently), basically they have a line of holes down the middle and a little mushroom shape plastic fastener to close it. Same idea but a bit more versatile.

I guess something is better than nothing. Lots of wasted space. This almost needs a complete rework. Clearly, there was very little thought put into the kit. Some of your kit is borderline dangerous or illegal. The implementation is terrible, and the selection is poor. The best name for this would be "The inconvenience kit". For a kit that large, there are just too many compromises. The bandaids, glow sticks, the sheet of paper are fine. Just about everything else ranges from bad to terrible. Many of the items are very bulky, with no return for their excess size. Many necessary items are missing. Your kit could be just as functional at half that size. Probably 90% of your kit is junk.
@EDCQ
@EDCQ 3 ай бұрын
Thank you for the comment. What would be in your kit?

@@EDCQ I'm not going to provide your content, but I'll point you in the right direction. The magnets... as used, eliminate them. You are using them incorrectly. Wrong type and wrong placement. The bits. You are storing them in a very inefficient manner. Get them out of that tin. The pry tool. Wrong item. The multi-tool is OK. Store the pills in their packaging, but trim the packaging, if necessary. You can still use the tin. The flashlight is HUGE. It offers no return for that size. Its light beam is terrible. Replace it. The Altoids tin may be OK, but is a hugely wasted space. Start there. Then you will have more space.
