I am not blaming coach Meyer for this tragedy but I am wondering how disengaged that he may have been from this kid to not realizing that this kid needed his intervention and help outside the football field. A coach must always be aware of the physical and psychological well-being of ALL his players.

Not surprised. Winning = more power to this dude. And that's all he cared about. How do you not know you have an Aaron Hernandez on your team except you are winning? So that's why I didn't get that NFL Head Coaching job that I wanted. When they asked me in the interview what would I do if I had a kicker not making his kicks, I told them I would kick the kicker to emphasize he needed to make his kicks. As a followup, they then asked me what if the kicker doesn't like it then I would tell the kicker "I'm the Head Ball Coach and I can do whatever I want!!" Sure wish after hearing this about Urban Meyer that I could get an NFL interview do-over!! One hears a lot of whacked out things either said or done in sports in general but this "kicking the kicker" is right up there in my Top 10 along with Gregg Williams (17-31 as Buffalo's Head Coach) back in 2018 taking over the Cleveland Browns who said he'd been offered 4 NFL Head Coaching Jobs where he did not have to even interview. Note to Gregg: Please forward the names of those 4 NFL teams STAT to Urban Meyer so he doesn't have to interview. That way with no interview these other NFL teams won't have to awkwardly ask Urban Meyer if he had any "player issues" or "work-ethic issues" (aka Columbus OH Chop House Incident) at his old job.
