Then he comes out of left field and says he wants to be a head coach in the NFL?! My red flags were up in about 1/2 a second when I heard that. When a good program hires you, you already have access to the best recruits in the country, and then once they become your players you can treat them like trash since they're only "kids". Recruiting is part of a college coaches job. Some of it is on the program, but a lot is on the coach. Also Saban brought the last place Browns defense to first place in the league in 4 years… they were back to 20th the year after he left. He’s the best recruiter, and an elite scheme coach. Meyer is underratedly good on scheme because people forget his Utah years, but he did seem to get somewhat lazy once he went to Ohio State (at least in comparison to his younger years) To be fair, a coach like Ed Orgeron was just a lucky recruiter.
