On-behalf of India, I want you to lead in bring this legislative reform and i wanted to see you as the first Mayor of Bengaluru post reform. And, i wish to see this happen before 2024. The good thing in India is, we are very good at competing and replicating the success stories of one's city or a state. Once a city like Bengaluru make this reform, it doesn't take too long for us to see this reform implemented in many more Indian Tier-1 and Tier-2 cities. Glad he is speaking about the most called out issue in Bangalore.. So happy he mentioned about Senior citizens(I am not but I feel horrible our parents, and the elderly after working so hard all their lives have pollution, no space to move around, no way to live their lives beyond the walls of their homes because we have made a mess of our city, we young ppl have avenues to go out and have fun and we don't think about our elders and their leisure, and that irks me) and their woes with commercial activities in residential areas... Once upon a time This city was a pensioner's paradise... I know we can't go back to that level, but atleast let a residential area be the residence one can come home to.... Most important thing to disallow bars mushrooming just about in every nook and corner in a residential area.... I know am going to get a lot of flak for this, but I have to say it. Bannerghatta Road back in 2004 was beautiful with trees on either side.. And now it is pillaged beyond ugliness. At the end I would request if we can please curb and control buildings popping up everywhere without any planning.... I am really really happy this young leader is speaking about all these points that are not glamorous to talk about. Thank you...

Impossible. The City have canals through out to carry dark water and sewage water to fresh water lakes. Just check the condition of Varthur Lake. Bangalore is lost yaar. Impossible to get back in this stage. Without water nothing exists.

Tejasvi Surya, excellent assessment of the problems in Bangalore. Bangalore has had enough of talking from people of leadership positions. We are fed up now and need solutions to this perennial problems confronted by the citizens. So no more alluding to the problems. Let me therefore suggest a few suggestions to solve the problems. Please appoint an internationally acclaimed consultant who have expertise in the city management, Implement the suggestions provided by the consultant under the supervision of retired military officers who have the expertise managing the cantonments Divide the city into various zones under the command of retired senior military officers who headed the cantonments and retired. Demolish the existing sidewalks and make them as per international standards. Demolish all illegal constructions including those constructed by people who broke the laws by bribing the officials and politicians. Clean up the lakes and fill the dried lakes and allow clean storm water to store in these lakes. Take back all the lakes which were illegally occupied by the land sharks and builders. So simply talking at such forums is not enough. It is time for action. The state is managed by BJP and you represent South Bengaluru in the parliment should work together. Appoint a high power committee.

It's difficult. Lot of conflicting interests at the 3 levels of government (BBMP, state, centre). There have been multiple minor attempts made to reform the BBMP (split into different corporations, change legislation etc.) but it's a cash cow that works well for a cash strapped state government. Until state moves towards a more free market role, tough to see any changes in municipal legislation of Bengaluru.
