I’m of the same opinion as you on the definition of urban sketching. Because of my health I’m limited in the amount of plain air sketching I can do.

I take the title ‘urban sketching’ as more a title of the subject matter than a definitive description of the process!

People make a scene lively. But you could move them to the front on the side or toward the back.

I don't understand, you sketched a picture from a photo of a place in Norway and a sketching group in Norway were unhappy about that !, Why, and more to the point what on earth has it got to do with them what you sketch and how. Why cant people just mind their own business. I sketch lots of pictures from photos for the simple reason I cant get to the places to sketch outdoors or "en Plein Air" as you all seem to want to call it, translated means Alfresco, sounds like eating outdoors, (I'm not French). More likely you sketched it from a photograph much better than any of they could, Alfresco, the old green eyed monster me thinks.
