Beautiful end result Colin - full of movement & texture… It’s been interesting to see how you develop your way of using acrylics, which looks quite different to the more common ways I’ve seen people use it. We can definitely see your love for w/c shine through… 🙌🏼🩵💚💛🤎

Hi Colin…I’m a brand new subscriber and really enjoyed your inspiring demonstration. Your cold toes bothered me though and I wondered if you have shoes or boots with a genuine shearling lining. Mine have made a real difference to me when I’m on an outdoor field trip with my camera. If that’s not an option for you, sitting with your feet on cardboard can help. Thanks for making me consider taking my inktense outside…love your results!

I've a fallen tree in the woods behind my house that my mind translates into a dramatic pose of a woman, verklempt. I can see it from my upstairs window. I've been wanting to sketch it since it fell three years ago. It's winter here. I can go out and sketch it from the side yard, near the parking lot. Hopefully, no one will bother me. I've been wanting to go out around here to sketch but I feel embarrassed. It's wicked cold out; maybe, that'll keep everyone else inside. Watching you is very encouraging. Thank you for your gentle coaxing. I think I'm going to give it a go. ❤

When I’m drawing in public sometimes I’m doing it spectacularly badly, like really really bad. It’s quite entertaining to see what people do when they come over for a nose and then feel compelled to find something nice to say, sometimes it’s because I’m doing some kind of experiment or responding to a silly challenge that won’t make sense out of context or I might just be making a mess. Other times I think im Doing a decent job and I get the exact same comments. It’s a bit of a leveller. It’s given me more confidence because most people we come across feel a compulsion to communicate and comment and will do do regardless of what I’m working on. Occasionally someone comes past who knows what they are talking about and that can be a nice change. But really it’s quite nice to just get on with painting. And to be honest if I get in the zone I don’t hear them and then people think I’m rude. The hazards of working in public. Such a lovely video, thanks for sharing your trip.

I love my Inktense and in particular the Indian Ink one. You have inspired me to take it outside. I only wish mine stayed hard like yours. Mine go soft in the Australian heat.

Absolutely gorgeous and no mistake! Thanks indeed for sharing. I would the company of a dog. Personally I use watercolour /Inktense /graphite /fineliner.. All in one picture. I love the process/mindfulness element so very much. Might join one of your courses some day.

I prefer the simplicity of the Inktense on their own but it’s up to each artist!

I actually prefer the Faber-Castell version. Both lovely wee sketches considering the gloves and cold. I love to go out to mountain environments like Spelga Dam and work in the comfort of my wee car. Keep up the great work and thanks indeed for sharing.

That was beautiful! I enjoyed watching you sketch that forest in the cold. Although the ground is similarly covered with snow here in Virginia USA, I think I'll sketch the woods behind our house from the window, instead of going out in it. I like both of your sketches; they each have their own appeal. The Inktense is vibrant but the graphite seems more delicate.

I got these in blocks instead of pencil, that way i wouldnt waste any when sharpening but gawd,my fingers get covered. So,for anyone getting the blocks, use a latex glove or put something round the block. But regardless,i love love love these. They do have an inky look which is lovely.
