It has been 48 hours since I put the worms in the Bag time to see if they have settled into their new home!

Still makes me smile watching people have to wet their bins down 😊 Not an issue I ever ever have coz of our weather lol. Thanks for sharing 😊👍

Well as I keep my worms in the basement weather plays a little roll in the watering part. Granted if I kept it outside I would have to worry more about freezing in the winter and heat buildup in the summer.

The worms look good. I have a few climbers too when I first set up my UWB2 but I have ANC and they have settled down now.

overfeeding is the usual reason worms try escape..good and moist cardboard bedding is enough to feed them without adding any scraps..it is much easier to overfeed than underfeed..

Eating whole vegetables and fruits is a lot better for you than juicing them . With juicing you blood sugar spikes and lows , when you eat veggies and fruits you don't get that sudden spike and drop which is way better for you.

You are correct which is why I don't juice many fruits. Veggies don't have nearly the sugar content that fruit does. Fruit is blended which keeps the fiber and is mixed with veggies along with protein powder.

I started an Urban Worm Bag ver2 with 1lb red wigglers on 8/6/2020. It is now 8/9/2020, and the center is heating up (90°F) with the ambient air being around 74°F. Is this normal? How do I stop it from heating up top much? By bedding is cardboard and newspaper and I've fed them everyday.

Heating up isn't a good sign that means the bag is starting to go into hot composting. I would remove what food you can, add more bedding and wet it down. Right now you only have 1lb of worms so I would wait and let them get acclimated to the bag more before adding more food. I know when starting out the hardest thing to do is not overfeed as I did this as well when starting out. If you notice most of my bins get fed once a week or less. If you can store food in a container in the freezer as this will make sure it doesn't smell and also start breaking down the food for faster consumption by the worms later. Let me know if you have any other questions and keep me updated!

Royal Shredder 1600MX which can shred 16 sheets and I like that it doesn't need oil or any maintenance. kzbin.info/www/bejne/oGLHZ3tme9uSfpY

Im starting a new bin today with 2lbs of worms from someone else's bin. Any tips for starting with not pure worms and a mix of bedding, castings, worms and material?

What type of bin are you starting? If the bin/bag has holes you might want to keep a light on it to ensure the worms burrow down and don't try and escape. I would recommend blending food to start so it will break down more readily in the system as food can be scarce. Other than that it really is just a system of trial and error and trying to find that right balance.

Starting with an Ubran Worm bag @@WorldComposting. I basically received 2lbs of mixed worms and castings last night and put them in the big with some damp shredded cardboard. As of this morning they aren't doing much which is probably a good thing, right? They are mostly just staying in the material that the came from (the mix of worms and castings and some mostly processed food). There is some layers of shredded cardboard on top that is moist but they don't seem too interested in it. To start I think I will just take is slow and see how they do. Thanks.
