I used to work in reception on the ground floor before it closed. For a good few years the only clinic left running was the Ear Clinic on the top floor before it got moved to ARI. We were glad as a lot of patients struggled to get up the 3 flights stairs and the only lift broke so easily because people kept driving their massive mobility scooters inside despite us warning them not to. 6:38 is the break/staff room. 13:03 is the main reception area, lift was to the right.

Woolmanhill is a blast from the past, old A&E department that closed in 79, inpatient beds till 1999. Clinics for ENT, eyes, audiology, GU Medicine, then slowly wound down and closed. The whole place suffered due to the wind down, maintenance ignored and fell onto disrepair. Hoping they manage to keep some of the architectural details of the inside especially the staircase under the dome in the Simpson Pavilion.

The room with the battery stickers on the wall is not a consultants room. It was the repairs room, where the folk of Aberdeen would come to collect batteries, have impressions of the ear taken, etc. A really cramped space to do the work. Thanks for the video.

It’s very interesting what it looks like now cheers

one of your riskier visits from what Ive seen of your vids so far. You did well not to get caught. A great exterior design and I fear that will be absolutely trashed in the redevelopment, leaving only the dome in some zooped up form remaining in the new monstrosity. It amazing how fast the decay sets in. Good that you were able to visit, its great to see inside these abandoned places

This was interesting to watch, thank you! It's cool that workers being there was to your advantage! I wondered if they had turned off the alarms before you mentioned it. The little tiny rooms in the x-ray department are for outpatients to undress before their x-rays and then dress again afterwards. In the Bristol Royal Infirmary there are two little booths like that with doors on both sides(one inside and one outside the x-ray room) so that one patient can enter and undress whilst the previous patient is still dressing - this speeds up time between patients so they can get as many x-rays done per day as possible.

Have recently found your videos. They are really interesting. And as good as many documentaries. I like your comments. It just shows the biggest vandals are the ones who abandon these places. ..schools..erc. all that valuable equipment and books and hard work cast aside .they say there is no money around. Your filming is sometime the only good thing that comes out of this neglect.well done.

The new one was built opposite it in McLeod Street. I’d love to see what it looks like inside now. If they’ve just abandoned it, leaving everything inside intact. It’s a listed building, so I don’t think it’ll be demolished.

I was here yesterday, however I only managed to get inside of the exterior basement. Me and a few of my friends are thinking on going back to the hospital, but I believe it is now under control by Aberdeen City Council and Police Scotland, meaning getting caught would be devastating. Everything’s boarded up, more than double the amount in this video. There is a door in which I believe a few of us could slip under to get inside of the court area. Now you’ve brought it to my attention of the motion sensors. Do you think they still work and if so what’s my best plan of escape, should I hide there and hope the police do not come and attempt to find us or should I get out of there as fast as possible?

Very interesting. I was a patient for a few days there in my teens. I hit my head at school rugby practice and suffered amnesia. Still have no recollection of the event until I came to in the hospital bed. Also visited the emergency dept at an earlier age to have a fish bone removed from my throat. Finally, visited emergency again with my brother in my late teens for him to have a tick removed after a camping trip. They sent us upstairs to another department to get it removed and we must have taken a wrong turn and ended up in the VD clinic waiting room! A doctor in the VD clinic removed the tick.
