Beautiful old farm house in small town North Carolina built in the late 19th century. Around 1888 but possibly had an earlier one story structure on the property added onto. LOTS of pretty beadboard woodwork and one incredible staircase. Also a bunch of wasps since it is summer time. Plus and added bonus of a old Monte Carlo sadly being crushed by a roof with another unknown old car beside it that I couldn’t climb under too see as well. Very cool old place and the return of Ruby!
Check out her channel here if you’d like. She has some videos on the way of her own things she’d like too share for fun. Thanks for watching!

Hi Ruby and Kappy. This reminds me of my grandmother's farm house. The "addition" on the back was purposely separate from the rest of her house and it was known as a summer kitchen They used it in the summer to cook, can, process their own meats, do their laundry on "wash day" and keep the heat out of the rest of the house during the warm months. Thanks for bringing us along!!!

I love that you do this! When I was a young child, we would pass a derelict house and I told my grandmother I wanted to go and explore inside. She told me that I'd fall through the floors and be trapped in the basement! I'm grateful I can live vicariously thru your videos (and avoid the wasps, rotten floors, and various birds).

The reason these old houses have floor to ceiling windows looking out on the balconies because when it was built there was a door tax so the more doors to the outside the more you were taxed that doesn't really apply to this one but thought you would like to know for future reference ❤️

Yay for the return of Ruby, and thanks for the link to her channel, I'm checkin' it out :) I love this house, the way it was added on to, the beadboard, the porches and windows, and especially the stairway. I think maybe 2013 was the last time someone squatted in it, I'd wager it hasn't been really lived in since the 80s or 90s. The Monte Carlo reminded me of my high school drag racing days. I really needed this today, Kappy. I've been subjected to a lot of ugliness this week, but you and Ruby restore my faith in humanity and the coming generations. You're a beautiful couple and I really am glad you enjoy showing us your explorations. Take care out there!

Hi Kappy and Ruby. Whenever I see these old places I often wonder what the proud original owners thought when they walked into their new home for the first time ? All of that bead board going up the stairs and the rest of the woodwork was probably gorgeous before it was painted . It's odd as to why this house was abandoned when the rest of the neighborhood homes look to be well cared for. Have a happy 4th of July.

sadly this is what happens in a lot of places, the younger generation moves, and once the older dies the family wont let go of the house or property, and either don't care enough, or have the money to maintain it. and then once it get inherited by the grandkids or later, it's in bad enough shape that the amount of money it would take to repair would be high. it's a shame, the only cracking in the plaster i can see if around where the mantles were taken, so the foundation is still largely good.

I so wish you explorers could unite together and do what historical societies wont always do..SAVE PLACES. 1800s house here is still standing whats that tell you about its craftsmanship! I tried saving a house in Missouri to no avail and the day it was torn down the house just wouldn't give it. That strong. They even used a wrecking ball...I wish if a place cant be saved people would at least rescue door handles, hardware, the wood..esp with wood prices now..I saved some stuff from that house and still treasure it!..Ruby should at least keep little snippets of wall paper and make a scrap album:)

HOLY SHIT, this is my home town! this house may not have been fully lived in for a long time, but people have been known to squat in here, at one point a group of teens used it for storing stuff they stole, a bunch of my uncles tools being some of it. as for the 'add-ons', that kitchen has more then likely always been in that location, but when it was built was built separately from he house incase of a fire, and was then connected at a later date. Edit: found out this place is family owned, and they're still around, so it's condemned but not being torn down anytime soon. the house used to be owned by a doctor, but when he passed and it came into the hands of the kids, they just didn't do anything with it. and it's been left there, as a lot of these old family homes and properties sadly are :/.

Welcome back to Kappy's chica! That name makes me think of my late beloved brother in law, who called me his "niña." It's always sweet when someone you love calls you by a special name. It's so heartwarming to hear the tone of Kappy's voice when he asks "Are you okay?" with that caring note in his voice. It makes me feel good when my husband is concerned for me. It's nice to be loved. I'm glad you're back, sweet girl, and I'll definitely check out and subscribe to your channel. Kappy, this house is a real puzzler. Makes me think of the lady whose husband founded the Winchester gun company. She was convinced the souls of the people the guns had killed would haunt her, so she built a house that was made up of rooms and stairs that went nowhere so they couldn't find her! I think these folks just kept adding on, maybe a house for a daughter or son who wanted to stay close to home! Perhaps the new wife didn't want to live in the old wife's house! I'm sure it's got an interesting backstory. If walls could talk! I didn't quite catch what Ruby said about the contraption on the upper porch door. Road traffic drowned out her voice. Please tell me as I'm curious as to what that might be. Thanks for a very interesting explore, you two! We're looking forward to many more great videos and to more of Ruby's useful comments, too! Oh my word! Gorgeous! How neat it would be if you could get way back in the day before pics of these beautiful homes. It would be great to see how they were furnished or what families lived there. Those porches though! Me and my porches. Hahahahahaha! This is why you NEED to be picked up by either the Travel or History channel. You would have an amazing show. Stay safe Kappy! 😊

You should look inside the knoll post to see if the deed to the house is in there. Back in the day if you had a set of stairs with a knoll post at the bottom and you paid your home off that's were you would put the deed.

What an unusual house-loved it! What a darling B & B it would be next to the road like that. Cute little fireplaces-were there more downstairs? And the porches! What a neat staircase and balcony-folks were sure smaller back then! BTW, the house with the red shutters across the street looks like the one l grew up in. ( Had front porch railings, black shutters, 1914 Sears kit house) Hope they keep the old trees when they tear it down. Looked like there was a garden by the garage once. Thanks, Kappy and Ruby-great as always. Glad you guys didn't get stung!! 🐝

My sister bought a house at auction built in a very similar time….in the late sixties…and during the seventies did the usual remodeling, tearing off wainscoting, paneling , dropping ceilings…changing the doors to cheap doors…tore off gingerbread double porches…put columns out front…as years went by…ai think she regretted a lot she had done…but she was older and didnt change it back……

Oh wow is right! It kills me to learn this beautiful place is on the chopping block. Makes my stomach roll. When I first moved to Vt I lived in a 1800’s farmhouse! And that beautiful wainscoting in that chair room just like the wainscoting in the kitchen! I loved that house! I almost spit out the tea in my mouth when you said you should have worn pants! Yep! This was a fascinating house! Thanks for this one…I want it! Hi Ruby! Nice to hear you in the background again! Kappy the glasses that you zoomed in on in the kitchen with the flowers on them so reminded me of glasses my Gram had when I was little! Tugged my heartstrings!
