I love how so many of your videos open up with the sounds of birds chirping. My mind wanders back to a happy and prosperous time, when people lived there and the homes were full of life. I can imagine people sitting outside, family parties, drinking iced tea late in the evening while listening to the radio or family holidays around the table! Thank you for preserving these once grand ladies and giving them a last dance! ❤

I hope for every neglected property shown on this channel there are 10 of them from the 19th and early 20th centuries being saved and loved. I also love the antiques in these homes if these structures can’t be saved, hopefully some of the contents will!
@lowespringacres78382 жыл бұрын
And much of the interior architecture needs to be salvaged; doors, moulding, stair rails, mantels, ect
@CK-tz8ek2 жыл бұрын
Agree with architectural salvage and furniture salvage. Most of these homes are in undesirable locations or too far gone to save. I don’t think people realize how expensive it is to live in much less save and remodel these homes. My grandmothers home from 1880 was burned down by the fire department. We let them use it for practice burn which they were really greatful for. After we made $50,000 worth of safety modifications for them to torch the place. Just imagine how much to bring it up to code!
@oldradiosnphonographs2 жыл бұрын
@@CK-tz8ek gotta have very deep pockets for that. But nothing wrong with salvaging some of that stuff and putting it into a home in better shape.

Beautiful house! But for some reason it makes me feel sad. Could be because it has things in it that remind me of my childhood and family long gone. Wallpapers are beautiful! I knew you’d open that freezer and your reaction was just what it should’ve been! Old freezers are never good to open but we do it anyway…just in case! From the outside it has an Andrew Wyeth vibe which I loved! Stay safe, and hi to Ruby!

I once had an offer to have an old house from the 1860's for free here in Florida but they said I had to tear it down so I accepted the offer and used a lot of the beautiful old pine wood and beams plus cypress paneling in another old house I bought that used to be an old slave quarters that was a log cabin at one time. Also a beautiful mirrored mantle from the 1920's was in that old house. I still live here to this day.

The Daily Times was a newspaper published in Salsbury, Maryland in the DelMarVa region (Delaware,Maryland,Virginia) also called the Eastern Shore. There are many old abandoned homes along that corridor which was more active in the 1800's with shipping and rail service that brought goods along the east coast from the south to northern cities before interstates and air cargo.

I saw what looked like an old box of stockings in there. This is the kind of stuff that's great about going in old houses..... The lounger with the back wheels is lawn furniture. You lift the end up and wheel it where you want it. That was a great old piece. Maybe from the fifties or sixties. Great trunk. I had one i used as a table. Beautiful restored. The door knob in the small room upstairs may be brass. I had found one on my property in a old burn pile before people had garbage pickup. I cleaned it up and it turned out beautiful.
