Please: 1) Get somebody to go along with you for safety's sake!! 2) Please consider a respirator for interior spaces, gloves, sturdy boots. You don't want to turn your ankle or get injured by yourself. You can also inhale molds, lead dust, or hantavirus from rodent droppings and dry dusty areas. I know, I sound like a grandma, but I want you to enjoy yourself and be safe!! Thanks for your videos, they're really well done, but be careful!!

My boyfriend lost his family home because of the bank and lack of ability to pay the mortgage after his mother passed away he was taking care of her full-time as she was wheelchair-bound and he was unable to work. I Now understand how these places end up the way that they do situations like my boyfriend's are what causes a lot of these abandoned houses and it's incredibly sad. The mortgage company made a huge mistake and sealed the house up before giving notice so we had to essentially break into his own home and get four generations of family heirlooms out like thieves in the night the whole entire ordeal was absolutely heartbreaking for him and me seeing his family's photos and generations of collectibles and just people's lives left behind. We got as much as possible out in the six days that we had working 24-hour shifts getting maybe an hour to sleep here and there no food nothing running on sheer stress and adrenaline as his mother was a hoarder on top of everything else so it was a Monumental task to say the least. I appreciate the respect that you show for these buildings when you go in and other Urban explorers like yourself who treat these places with dignity especially people's homes because at one point in time that was a home full of love life and laughter and usually do to unforeseen and unfortunate circumstances people can lose a lot of their family history in the blink of an eye. Thank you for showing respect I know it doesn't apply to this video but ever since that incident I've looked at these videos with a different eye and mindset.

That is really sad. I mean absolutely no disrespect but I don't understand how he could get the stuff out since the house was sealed, wouldn't that have been seen as theft? Again not trying to be rude I am just trying to understand.
@unexpectedvixen56855 жыл бұрын
@@Samtara1984 no worries at all. They sealed the house too soon and without giving him proper notice and they knew they were doing wrong so one of the back doors was left unsealed on purpose from what we were later told by a man that works for the company that we ran into while at the home. The first night he didn't honestly know if he was trespassing (after speaking to a friend of a friend who is a laywer we found out he was not because he was never given proper notice)but he certainly wasn't stealing. These were items that had been in his family for over a hundred years and it would have absolutely killed him if he had lost them we didn't destroy the home in any way shape or form,even though friends were encouraging us to leave a big mess behind for the company to have to deal with,we simply took sentimental items and clothing that was still Left Behind as he had been staying with me for a short time with his daughter prior to all this happening and that was it, photo albums, clothes, sentimental items and the like were all that were taken. That was the house he grew up in and spent the last few days with both of his parents in. The worst part is he tried everything within his power to save that house,begged the mortgage company to work with him so he could make payments but because the house was in his mom's name and not his he wasn't allowed to do so. It really brought to light the fact that your life can change for the worse in the blink of an eye you can lose everything so fast even when you've done everything right and it makes me wonder how many of these places that we see on Urban exploration channels have the same backstory or something very similar to it. It's truly taught me to appreciate everything that I have in life

I grew up in the '60's and '70's and when my parents and I vacationed we stayed in small family owned motels like this. I really miss them too. It was as close to feeling at home as you could get which is something the big hotels of today can't duplicate. The interstates killed them off and when you find one still operating now many times is not somewhere you would want to stay unfortunately. You were right about the rectangular opening in the back walls and the space under it. The top was for a window A/C and right under was an electric heater. The antenna behind it looked like it was on an old windmill tower which may mean there was a farm there before the motel. Neat little find along with the snack shack!

Thanks for another great explore! This looks like your typical Florida 1950’s roadside motel. Probably abandoned sometime in the 1980’s or ‘90’s when the original owners became too old, broke or passed away.

Neat! When I was a kid we often stayed at places like this during family road trips. I'm betting that the "outhouse" building was actually a pump house for a swimming pool, most of these places had one around back. Hard to tell by looking at it now but back in the 60's and early 70's these places were GREAT! Thanks for another wonderful vid, looking forward to more!

Thank you Tiki Trex, Brings back memories of old Florida. I would say the Motel daes from the mid to late 50's The bathroom tile seems to be from that era; a fairly wide bull nose. The other building much earlier. I would say it was an unaffiliated local family ownership that grew like topsy. The Interstates I-10, I- 75 and I-95 was the disease that killed off so many of the Mom and Pop operations. Years ago I was in the VA Hospital in Lake City, Fl. Met a WW II Veteran who lived between Perry and Salem. Small world. There was another old soldier who lived in Perry. He wrote stories about Mount Perry (Florida's tallest nonexistent Mountain) I just discovered my Bell Notifier was off I fixed it. Thanks for the Video.
@TikiTrex5 жыл бұрын
Hi Jim! Yes, a small world it is indeed. Your assessment sounds pretty much spot on as I've come to learn that it was first owned by a family in 1958. And this Mount Perry sounds interesting. Thanks for your comments as always.

Another great video this place definitely has been abandoned for a long time. I'm surprised this has not been torn up like they usually do or the wires ripped out. Those opening I believe to be for air conditioners I'd date this place around the 1930's judging by the style of the doors and bath fixtures and updated through he years. Great catch.
