Thank you! I have run into someone once exploring an abandoned house in Florida. A biker walked in after me and was walking around. Not sure his intention but he left out the window shortly after we made contact. It was a little unnerving at first when I heard him.

It was on a very busy road and so I didn't want to be seen out wandering around the grounds or leave my car there for too long as there was nowhere else to park. I didn't see any stairs to the attic, otherwise I would have checked it out. I don't carry around a ladder to enter the ceiling access panels, so I only enter attics if there are stairs leading to one. Thanks for your comment as always.

Hey TikiTrex I just discovered you! I covered this house yesterday and then found this video in my suggested videos list after uploading it! It was so awesome to see the things that you found in there 3 years ago. I would love for you to check my video out, if you think it was empty when you were there you should see how little is left now. I also cover the barn, which is in a horrible state now compared to how it looks in your video. I'm glad this house helped me find your videos! :)

Well, KZbin ate my last reply and part of yours again-everything past your (absolutely correct :D) feelings of passion for animals. I think it sounds like your little boy (and birds too, no doubt) are well and truly loved. It's amazing how wonderful that bond between 2-leggers and 4-leggers (or 2-legs+2-wings) can be, how much it does for us. And Mini Dachshunds are, on the whole, very bright, loving dogs. I hope you have many more years with your boy. If you ever pass through NoVa/DC, you'd be welcome to meet my furry crew (2 dogs, 4 kitties-currently. Always subject to sudden increase, much to my terrific husband's chagrin) and have a cup of coffee. It can be tough to find urbex material here now, however-one has to go farther and farther out, and avoid serious law enforcement. They're not too laid back around here. You do such a great job!

Thanks so much for sharing this beauty with the world, Pam. :) It's good to see vandals haven't gotten to it with their pathetic, childish scribbling on the walls. If someone resumed the renovation, it has plenty of potential. My room has an old phonejack like that too. ^_^ As old at it appeared to be (very old) and with a wire along the baseboard, it still worked when I had phone service that way. @ 9:15, bathroom wall tiling?

@Kittydoc90
@Kittydoc90 10 жыл бұрын
Howdydoo Pam-yep, another neat one. Two things-you know it seems we always try to figure out unanswerable questions... I wonder if another makeshift "kitchen" was created upstairs with the second fridge and stove. And-I found the niftiest 1891-1892 catalog for McClary stoves (originally produced in London Ontario beginning in the 1840's)-incredible cast iron monsters for the outrageous price of around $53.00! I think of all the urbex videos I watch, yours are my favorites. I was gonna say I wish we had the same "resources" here in Northern Virginia, but then I remembered that we did when I was a kid when the area development boom was happening-there were soooo many empty houses I can still recall-and for you to have all these abandoned places to explore reminds me that you're going through the same unpleasantness now. What's the lyric from John Denver's "Rocky Mountain High"-"...more people, more scars upon the land?" Bummer. But thanks again, brave person!
@TikiTrex
@TikiTrex 10 жыл бұрын
Hiya Cristina! Thanks so much for the compliment on my videos. And that catalog from the late 1800s, wow! That would be so interesting to browse through. Only $53 -- another wow! Although expensive at that time, can you imagine if that's all they cost now? Being antique, I can imagine they'd be way up there in price if you could ever find one. I love those old stoves compared to what we have now. I've never used one but I can imagine. And I'm from London, Ontario, so I guess McClary and I have something in common! lol John Denver was very wise quoting that in his lyrics. So so true!

Howdydoo again, Pam! For some reason my original comment has disappeared so I couldn't read the rest of your reply... However, I found the McClary catalog by googling "McClary stove." Third hit down is "Supplementary stove catalog [microform]: The McClary Mfg. Co..." at archive.org>eBooks and Texts>Additional Collections>Microfilm. On an iPad, clicking on that hit takes you to a page that has on the right hand side a black rectangle that says "Download." Clicking on that gives you a list of formats-choose TEXT PDF. The catalog starts on page 5 of the 29 pages that will download. If this is all very basic, I apologize-I'm not very computer-savvy (animal blood and guts is my normal milleau:) ) and I generally need things to be pretty well spelled out. I hope you find it and find it as interesting as I have. What a coincidence that the company originated in your hometown (and that's the last of your reply that I got). I've found companies online that restore and sell old stoves-boy, are they beautiful! And pricey... I haven't looked for a restored McClary yet but I'm sure they're out there.

Hi Cristina! That's KZbin for you. Full of glitches. I find so many of the longer comments missing the bottom half, and then have to wait for the rest to load, but it seems to take time for the "show more" button to appear these days for some reason. Thanks for the step-by-step instructions on how to find the catalog online. I'll definitely check that out! Love your milleau, btw! I admire you for what you do. It's docs like you that saved my dog since I've been here in Florida with new prostate issues. He's back to normal again thanks to you guys! So keep on keeping on! :)

Oh, I'm so glad he's okay, Pam! I'm sure you played an enormous part in his recovery-certainly as his "parent," you're the one who recognized your dog's problem and loved him enough to get medical attention. For me, our pets aren't just "pets"-they're soooo much more-I wanted to be a vet from the time I was in 7th grade, to give back to them what they were giving me-CONTINUE to give me! And I was fortunate enough to make it through the schooling. So my vocation is also my avocation. I'M the lucky one who gets to try to help the beings who help me and be a part of creating and maintaining happy families. And as an urbexer, YOU enrich my life by doing something that I'D love to do but can't. We all work together...
@TikiTrex
@TikiTrex 10 жыл бұрын
I totally agree, Cristina! I don't see pets as just pets, either. I see them as part of my family. My Miniature Dachshund is 12-years-old now and goes everywhere with me. I love him to pieces, vice versa, and see him as one of my kids. He is so loyal. He and my 3 birds are my life. I'd have a cat, too, if it weren't for the birds. I'd have them all, lol. My passion for animals goes way beyond what words could possibly say. And good for you with the choices you have made in life sticking to your goals and following your heart and dreams working hard at getting through Veterinary Medicine. I imagine it was a long road, but a very rewarding career in the end. Thank you for all you do!

I am just curious, but do you select houses that are in a state of disrepair usually? It seems like most of the houses you explore look like they have been torn to pieces by vandal rather tan succumbing to nature or time like a lot of other abandon house videos I have seen. This I find very depressing. People who destroy are negative and rotten.
@TikiTrex
@TikiTrex 10 жыл бұрын
No, I do not select certain types of abandoned houses. The supply is limited, so I can't be fussy. I have several videos of houses with natural decay lacking vandalism. The most recent upload is one of natural decay, as just one of many.
