Exploring this large old abandoned house that was extended and made into a nursing home. I didn't know what it was before entering, but due to the nature of the rooms, it became obvious. The date on the only newspaper I could find in this building was August of 1992, so it's likely been abandoned since then, which would seem to be about right due to the shape it was in. There is another nursing home across the road that has been in business since 1975, so I assume that the residents of this abandoned home were sent across the street to that one.

It hurts that vandals have to break and destroy. At least they left the stained glass panels intact. Thanks for the visit. I like the way you investigate and narrate all the places you explore. Thanks!!

I think the numbered red buttons were probably alarms for each of the rooms, so when an alarm was pressed it would guide the nurse to the right room, and pressing it would cancel the alarm! Thank you for another informative and interesting tour! :)

thanks so much for showing us places that once was so loved and lived in that saw many happy and sad times, its amazing what each place that has a story, it's sad to see places like this after all the years it gave a purpose then ditched like it never mattered. Why people hang on to it? I am sure many said one day we'll be back and never do..

Must be a huge amount of anger to so badly vandalize a place. Too what sad place; hard to imagine anyone being happy in that crowded, dreary building. I might still be considered to be in fairly early middle-age but with a family history of heart trouble and my own heart being iffy I'd just as soon go now from a heart attack than end up in an institution like that. I volunteered in a nursing home and it's a place no one should be in.

Howdydoo Pam-sorry to have disappeared during our discussion of spiders, plus KZbin cut off part of your last reply. What's the general success rate of raising a spiderling to adulthood, provided the keeper(?) is knowledgeable (which apparently you are)? Back to this place-very interesting. I hope they took all the comfortable furniture and left only the lousiest stuff behind, because I'd sure hate to be old and creaky and stuck with just those chairs and couches to rest old bones on... And I wonder if there was a mold problem before relocation and if that, at least in part, prompted the move. Imagine-old, potentially frail and immunocompromised people having to breathe that lovely air day in and day out. Thanks for the tour and keep safe-Cristina

Hi Cristina! Nice to see you. The success rate is quite high of raising spiderlings to adulthood as they grow fast and are quite hardy. They have very slow metabolisms and can go for months without food as long as they have water. Those are the ground dwelling species, but the ones that originate from the rain forests generally need more attention for a higher success rate due to maintaining proper humidity levels. And yes, as far as this place goes, let's hope they had better furniture than what was left behind. And that mold was horrible in there for sure. Thanks as always for watching and commenting. :)
