People today don’t appreciate these old gems. Some of them could easily be turned into beauties.

Those floors, fire places, wood work and the bathroom are gorgeous. Have you ever looked at a house that got saved at the last moment...

Hi Sonya, yes in fact a house right at the back of this one is still standing and has occupants now after it was on a demo list last year when I filmed it :-)
@joycepolzer11684 жыл бұрын
What a beautiful home this could be. Nothing built these days can compare to the craftsmanship and pride that went into homes of a long bygone time. Houses had "personality" then. Unlike today. I hope it doesn't get put on the demo list. I wish the historic preservation laws were stricter and carried out. So often they are not and we lose another piece of history 😢

The house may have been "Tidied" in the 1950's, but there are so many beautiful features from the thirties. The sheer width of the timbers on the floors (First Growth) now worth big money. The Hand Crank Doorbell (The Postman always rings twice) The Town planners closed both eyes, and Stamped the re-development orders. Kid from that room probably went to Geelong Grammar. (Wish I Had) Cheers!

I am in love with this house. The pretty backyard with the flagstone pavers, covered patio, sun room, fireplaces, that awesome old timey kitchen! The beautiful glass doors, the pocket door, the gorgeous real wood floors. That doorbell! The woodwork! The built-ins. Real tilework...I even love the antique doorknobs. I would buy this house in a heartbeat. And it will be destroyed to make room for "some monstrosity planned for these two lots". I feel like crying.

This house was amazing! Thank you! I can't believe that all this beautiful wood will be destroyed... the wooden wall panneling, the gorgeous parquet floor... Such a waste, unless they find a way to salvage this before destruction and resell the floor and pannels. But it's very sad that no one in charge feels such vintage houses are worth something and need to be preserved as testimonies of architectural history. In France where I am from, I think that similar houses would be more valued.

The light in the kitchen was probably from the 60's cause my Auntie had them in her family room. The one over the table could be pulled down. Love the fire places especially the one that looked like a sun. The bathroom would have had the 'light it up yourself' water heater in the corner next to the window. Used to have to light one of them up myself as a kid to have a bath or shower. You can tell by the way the pipes come across the end from the wall to the bath. Beautiful house, like you said could easily live in that one too.
