Hey guys! This video is a look at 2 classic 30`s homes. The 1st being built 1938 and the second 1937. Both homes are full of fantastic art deco interiors and original features although remodelling in some places has been done. Unfortunately the both have fallen victim to development and I have already recorded 2 beautiful old homes that were to the left of these and you will see the ugly replacement that is there now. Hope you enjoy :-)
Here is a real estate link showing the 1st 1938 home in pristine condition.

Breaks my heart to see these old homes gone forever. I live in the US, North Carolina; built a new house in 1990, but used old doors, flooring , and moldings from pre-Civil War homes of our ancestors before they were torn down. Our 2nd home, at the beach, we did the same thing; old floors and doors with original hardware. Had to make two trips Ohio to find chestnut; beautiful doors. Made two trips to Charleston, SC to find heart pine flooring. Both trips were worth the hard work we had to do. We love old wood, especially heart pine, chestnut, and walnut in both of our homes. Maybe there are people who are buying these old doors, floorings, and moldings to make their home look old too; sure hope so. Love your videos!

Nice surprise getting a video on a Saturday afternoon in the UK! Property investors will only be happy when everyone is living in little boxes. Wonder if they will underpin the new replacement boxes where there are foundation issues with subsidence - or whether they will be long gone and trading as something else when the new buildings start to show signs of cracks? Real justice would mean that their own large homes should be built above a sink hole! Can you tell what I think about unscrupulous property investors? 😠

Good morning from N Texas, USA. House #1: I love the big tree in the front yard. As in all these older bungalows, I love the grill work in the hallway, the wooden floors, windows, wooden doors and the ceiling molding around the lights. I can imagine the backyard looking great after it's cleaned up and mowed. House #2: The gold painted art deco ceiling. Pretty lead glass windows in the front. Thank you for sharing. Such beautiful ornate homes. I hope they are able to save some of the pieces for others to enjoy in their own homes. Is the structural damage (cracks) the reason they are taking them out or is it simply to rebuild new homes. These days they use cheaper materials and construction shortcuts. What a shame. Have a great day and stay safe!
@urbexindigo5164
@urbexindigo5164 3 жыл бұрын
Hi June :-) Salvage teams usually save the flooring and doors/windows if of decent wood. Yeah both reasons play a part but the developers persist and keep offering the owners money to move out but otherwise the cracks would not be enough for the owners to just say gee its time to sell and move away from my happy neighborhood. Also once they saw the street being erased already they though well why stay now.... Cheers for watching :-)

The first one was a beauty, but that second one, just imagine how much work went into the painting of those ceilings! That place is glorious. I kept thinking how heartbroken the person who was restoring the home must have felt when it was decided to condemn/raze it.

Liked the entrance and room sizes of first house. Second one looked like they were trying to capture maybe a Asian style with the gold and the green leaf accents. The hand dryer was a good idea. If you invite people over it would save on hand towels and really who would want to reuse. I've been to house parties and after washing my hands would just let them air dry. Couldn't bring myself to drying with the hanging towel. A roll of paper towels works good too. Love the established neighborhoods with the mature trees. So sad they will be pushed over. All the little wildlife living in them for years. Thanks for sharing.

The first house is a relatively original beauty, shame it had that structural subsidence on the 2 walls which I'm guessing could be reblocked to raise & stabilise it. The 2nd house has a definite ethnic colour scheme and fixtures yet strangely also has sections of the homes original wall paint. Someone put a great deal of time and effort into the detailed painting of the ceilings. As usual I fell in love with the huge covered in carport, outdoor garage & shed as I thought what a lovely amount of workshop floor space. My choice would be the first house with adding the seconds carport & sheds.

I like the stone on that first house. The ceiling motif's are beautiful. Major cracks too. Looks like the demolishing has started to take place. Coming down for common looking box type apartments. Yuck. 2nd home - structural damage. They were doing a pretty good job on painting the motifs though. They stand right the heck out!!!!! Definitely makes a statement. Beautiful leaded windows.

It's making me so angry that councils are wiping out all the beautiful character, history laden homes of South Australia and then putting up ugly, cheap boxes with windows. I have 3 adult children and none of them like modern homes, all the younger families and friends I have hate them too. I'm not old so who are they building this shit for?? My parents even hate them. So I'm talking about 18-80 yr olds. I'm so going to start the process of getting my place heritage listed. I had to go against a developer to get it. It's not my forever home but I'm going to try my hardest to prevent it from being destroyed by some knob who is greedy. Thanx for another awesome explore Paul. Both of these homes were so nice. So much detail. These are the era of architecture I really admire. I had a thought about whether the cracks in the walls might have been partially affected by the newer buildings that were built. Those buildings would have needed to have footings dug and placed. I don't know. Merely a thought. I loved how the ceiling details were painted in the second home. Not original, but pretty nonetheless. Thanks for the explore.

I enjoy watching your KZbin channel you actually know what your talking about! ..but I’ve got a random question to ask you ..do you feel strange things when you enter all those empty homes and building cause you know a lot of history in those homes and lots stuff happen in those homes good and bad. Sorry for the random question😄

Hi Dalmeny :-) Thanks for the kinds words and you can ask how ever many random questions as you like :-) Yeah I get feelings and thought about who may be still watching over or still attached to these old homes. I am very much in to the paranormal also. Nothing has happened to freak me out although im not easily freaked out but I heard an older mans coughing and clearing his throat while taking pics in a very old homes once, no one was with me and there were no close neighbors. :-)

Absolutely disgusted by homes being torn down with all this character. I am fortunate enough to be in a home now that has some originals still in it from 1925.

The ceilings were beautiful in that home. It is too bad they were not able to finish refurbishing that home. That would be terrible to purchase a home that you plan to refurbish and then have it taken away from you so apartment buildings or new track homes can be built.

This is sad beautiful old homes pulled down for developers to make money bet the new homes won’t be standing in a hundred years
