This was my project at university 40 years ago. I had a single cylinder and a carburettor, the carb didn’t like the longer trumpet as the pressure fluctuation caused fuel to flood. Short helps at higher speed as you saw.

On my race bike single cylinder... We use dual stack trumpet... The best trumpets design.. giving fat torque low down.. as well Flows great at peak rev range...

The rule of thumb is, short trumpets for high end long ones for low end. Channeling more cold air into an engine with ram air may provide the best all range benefit.

Hi Matt, as far as I could see in the video your intake air 1st comes through your radiator. If you might find a way to get some fresher/colder air to come to your airfilter that could add some more 'optimism' to the engine, according to my personal experiences. Good luck! Regards, T-Bear.

Nice Power gains across the range and top end? 160 Bhp is pretty good for a 1.8. I wonder if it would be worth porting and polishing the head. Nice results but more benefits from spending time on the VVT is a must especially with the different runner length. It's a bit if a nasty dip down low but good results overall. Needs more RPM though

Great results, but it lean out on the top. I’m surprised that nothing was done to give a 12.5 of afr all the way up. 13.4 is really on the lean side, especially for a performance application.

you should be real happy with that amount of power from a 4 pot motor, nearly as much as my 2.2 bmw, it has much more torque tho because it is a 6 pot, i can hear it when you drive, it is much smoother and its pulling like a champ.

Needs a port injected 100hp shot of nitrous (with the bottle painted up to look like an old Castrol barrel or something). Less hassle than super or turbo charging, and unlike turbo or supercharging, you can choose whether to spend that extra bit of money to fill up the bottle on a given day or not.

@@K1lostream The limiter is doing exactly what it was designed to do. Where the limiter is set is up to the owner. A motor built to only rev to 5000 should be able to handle 5000 and the limiter can be set at 5000 and it should not hurt your engine. Still the fact remains that I and everyone else would rather lunch a motor on a dyno than on a track. Hearing it is exactly what you DO WANT to know it is working. You are not going over your set RPM's . Thousands of drag racers sit on the staring line with revs at their limit misfiring like crazy. This ensures they are at the max power they want leaving the line. So yeah, hearing it is what you DO WANT!!!
