Great video Luis! How do you think a short pin Tour Dynmaics compare to short pin IQ Tour?
@rogercarlson23309 ай бұрын
this is the drilling I finally settled on and I absolutely love it, I'm at 19.7x 479 , love my 90x2x45. i can honestly say Luis i have been a fan since I came back. thanks for what you do. I went from a 197 to a 220 average in the last 2 years. once you get some lane shine on that ball it will settle in.

What about using the tour Dynam-X? The extremely low diff on that ball may have been a better choice for comparison.
@feddyvonwigglestein348110 ай бұрын
It has a higher diff than the iQ Tour. And the Tour is the same exact core that's in the 78U.

Thank you very, very much for this video Lou. I hope this puts this short pin replacing urethane idea to rest. Cheetah and other short patterns have a ton of oil in the front. If you use a short pin reactive on that kind of pattern it will skid through the whole volume of oil not even reading the lane at all and the instant it exits the oil it will grab the lane and go completely bonkers hooking out of control. That is why short pin is the worst idea for a high volume short pattern. Urethane by comparison is reading the lane "in the oil" and burning off energy so when it exits the oil it has a gentle and controlled move to the pocket. Short Pin reactive however can be very effective on long patterns because you can keep the ball in front of you and use that longer but lower volume of oil to get the ball all the way in front of the pocket before it hooks, then it will just tuck in. So I recommend doing another video with Short Pin vs. Urethane on a long pattern, something 45 ft or more and I think you will see Short Pin working very well.

What if you did a short pin on the tour dynamx. That ball was suppose to be urethane like right?

How would a short pin layout compare to a pin down drill? I have a pin down Black Venom that I really like.

that's going to depend pn what the layout numbers are

Curious if you would try different amounts of axis rotation and how that'd work. I like short pin for the low flare and reduce my rotation for a straighter ball motion.
@johnnyrock85210 ай бұрын
Good to see this video. Thanks. Might have to use CTDs little black bottle on that short pin...lol I have heard short pin is replacement for short pin,but that video clearly shows that to be false. Like you said may e a transition ball after urethane. Thanks again.
@TessNMM10 ай бұрын
What's your short pin layout. 3/4 to 1/2 essentially eliminates hook. Anything more than that and this video doesn't do much good. Just watched your last video and saw your pin is 1&1/2. Definitely not short enough.

So, polished Phaze II, normal pin placement. PBA experience league. Also used Eternity with no problem. My point? Why would I surface a ball to 1000 when shiny will do?
@vance83610 ай бұрын
This is not just about urethane vs reactive. This is about a cover with a 78 hardness vs a coverstock with likely a 73-74 hardness. A truer comparison is the Purple Hammer with that Black IQ. The PH runs circles around the IQ-78 even though both are urethanes. There is a big difference between 73 and 78 on the hardness scale. So if you really want to do a more direct comparison; then have the hardness on both balls be the same.
@jamesmykel771310 ай бұрын
More gradual movement with the urethane. Reactive I feel would move really early

Short pin ball is good, but nothing compares to urethane!
@chesterjoe739810 ай бұрын
you can not use 1000 on the IQ when it comes out at 4000 box. That's not a good comparison to the 78/U. I throw a lot of short pin from 1 in. to 2 1/4 inches.
@No_Lucks_Given10 ай бұрын
I think if the reactive had something like 2 or 3k might have actually been better. I have a ball that I have drilled pin in the palm and I use 3k on it and it reacts more like Urethane than my NU blue. Neither of them are Urethane obviously. The shortest I have used them on so far is 39ft so thats also a huge difference.
@bradmorgan379710 ай бұрын
It would scream off the dry if it had 3k on it. Iq tour solid has a pretty weak cover. It looks to me like he has 500 on it and it’s still reacting too hard off the dry.

Can you put the Ruby in with these guys next time, please?
@jessetrinidad31010 ай бұрын
I usually go big asym solid on short patterns. You gotta be precise with it though lol. I usually firm up and go up 4 or 5 and it works. Not for long though 😂😂

I drill short pins for my guys who are lower rev rate and higher speed like myself as a "urethane" because it doesnt go dead straight like urethane does for them and me and its really smooth

I can see that yea

Try taking a 500 pad to a weak pearl cover. It creates the same down lane motion

Do you think the Pro’s will use the Storm IQ Urethane to stretch out the short oil patterns to later use their Reactive Bowling Ball ?
@ChrisPrice-ei2qn10 ай бұрын
You need a short pin big ball. Like reality or gem
@LuisNapoles10 ай бұрын
Urethane will be better option!
@the_bait_shop10 ай бұрын
IQ tour should be at stock 4K , not 1K . . that's why it is hooking so much. The IQ Tour doesn't need the help with surface like the Urethane. That's why Urethane has so much surface on them traditionally. . 360 grit was common even in the 80s. . but reactive resin changed all that. The IQ Tour short pin with 4K , would react WAY better. It would calm it down and smooth it out.
@theb26946 ай бұрын
A 4K surface would make the ball reaction even more touchy. Remember that he is bowling on a very short pattern. Reactive will still do reactive things on short patterns regardless of layout and this video is an excellent demonstration of that.
@Unrealchik10 ай бұрын
Good comparison! What would happen if the reactive IQ was sanded up to 3000-4000? Would it be closer to the urethane IQ other than the breakpoint shape?
@joshg21810 ай бұрын
Iqtour isn't the ball to use. You need like a gem that will use up the energy and just roll down hill after hooking at the arrows
@joshg21810 ай бұрын
Iqtour hss too little dif and saves too much energy.
@ernestojanniere7610 ай бұрын

I have a short pin Tropical Breeze, first time I used it I shot about a 620 series with it. Ever since, it's either like a 200 or 140 ball. Haven't quite figured it out and I don't use it much, but I like to have it at times as an option for really chopped up lanes. It just hits really weird at times and leaves weird splits.
@denmanfite315610 ай бұрын
Short pin is a bit sensitive to rotation by my experience.

Hey patch pirate you keep missing left , and another piece of advice you gotta manipulate your hand to be more rolly to maximize the point of short pin especially with that short of a pattern. This is only educational for you , to learn how to manipulate your hand
@J00210 ай бұрын
Basically if anyone still tries that short pin after this, they have do be dead on 100% accurate every shot no error. The urethane is still the goat on short patterns

@@mikewrobel2881but there’s no reason to get the ball if you aren’t bowling sport patterns, that’s not what it’s meant for. It’s meant for patterns like this. Do you just want to see the ball do bad or something?

That depends entirely on you, the bowler. I prefer shiny reactive on cheetah.
