One of my core memories is sitting in elementary school and being taught human rights. I remember thinking that the right to free speech and the right to not be discriminated against were contradictary and irreconcilable. I've maintained that the right to opinions is more important, in part because I have grown up in a society where loud people with loud opinions arent quieted or challenged, and in part because I have grown up in some of the freest schools in the world, forcefully fed increasingly politicized narratives and media. If you are allowed to hate me, and you are; then I am allowed to hate you, and I do. And the one with the most convincing arguments and the most successful solutions should be the one in control.

Agreed, I've been to 3 different universities in QLD over 10 years now and the level of sheep headedness when it comes to following the newest moral/social media crusade by my "intellectual peers" and lecturers astounds me. Not only that, they seem to never be able to recognise that wanting more safety requires more government control to the point of them having no freedom or safety at all, but that's another rant. But when I go to a job site, i find people who have been digging dirt for 20 plus years to be more politically savvy than my university peers (most of the time). It's a sad state of affairs that my peers would believe that their lives and their personal safety are not their responsibility, but the governments and would allow strangers in suits to make life changing decisions about them. I wouldn't trust my neighbor to make decisions concerning my life, why would I allow others?

I used to work for a big tech company, they used Australia as a testing country for their technology and idea's because Australia was 1st world and had a lot of visitors from overseas, they used Australia as a test bed before deciding to implement some things in other countries because they did not care if they lost any money in Australia. Because Australia's size if it failed miserably they would just write it of the books because Australia wasn't big enough to impact global margins, the companies I did work for were Nokia and Vodafone. This is probably also a testing stage to see if they can get away with it before it's implemented in other bigger countries. You might be able to sue the social media companies if they try to impose Australia's rules outside of Australia, but not the Australian government itself. And once the people are disarmed, it's game over, nothing exists that will stop them.
