34 years is a heck of a long time for a system to function in that environment. Few if any earth based observatories stay relevant without updates in a similar time period. At some point you simply have to start making compromises in function or shut a system down. Running on fewer gyros isn't the end for Hubble, it just makes things a bit more difficult. I worked on some similar systems when I was a wee nerd, now I'm retired. I'm just amazed and so pleased that Hubble is still functioning and will most likely continue for some time to come. Might have a massive failure next week, might go on for years. Congress and fundamentalists are the biggest enemies of science in our nation, the anti science gang will lie cheat and spin anything to shut down any facts they don't like. Vote with care my friends.

Bad news. Hope an answer can be feasible. Spacex could reach Hubble, if needed. But does Endeavour or òther, have an airllock that would allow astronauts to leave the ship?

It would be like the Apollo lander. Both astronauts suit up and then vent the capsule.

Time for a space walk. Wait we do not have a shuttle anymore. 😮😊 You can bet it can still work uf they want it to.

True.harsh conditons like solar flares aggravated Hubble problems..not only gyros.Similar problems of other missions shold be shared to identify right source and solutons.

Weren't they supposed to crash this thing into the ocean a while ago? This thing went up when I was a kid.

If Elon could put down X for a few minutes, I bet we could rig up a Dragon cargo capsule with a gyro package and a grappling system. It's own solar array would power the new gyros so no or few other physical on orbit connections would be needed. It could potentially carry some boosting ability as well. It'd be easy... he said.

the privatization of space and the defunding of public space exploration will forever be a stain on human history especially while engaging in sending trillions of dollars a year to private military contracts.

NASA can't afford to fund both telescope programs. So one has got to go. Surprise it's not JWST 😮

Well then let's do a little experiment . take a marble an apple and a very large balloon filled with helium. Hold them over water and let them go the marble falls hits the water and sinks. The apple falls hits the water and floats. The balloon floats away high into the sky. This is called densitie . I'm thinking that when Newton seen the apple fall it hit him in the head and knocked his brains out. Gravity doesn't exist. We aren't on a plain under a bubble. Let's do a nother experience look down a long hallway the walls floor and ceiling converg to the middle. We will call this the hall effect, are eyes see this affect outside too but if it was curved the horizon wouldn't be in the middle it would be very much low. So traveling at 1000plus mile per hour 😱 I can't buy that. Wake Up

I told them all of their spacecraft are going to now have problems. Good luck you brought this on yourself.😂. Hubba bubble doesn’t have to be your slave either. We’re all going on strike.
