Girls… I adore you both and your love for your neighbors is not lost on me. Your parents should be supremely proud. Now the downside… As a paramedic/fireman AND military for the past 39 years of my life ~ I need you to know… NO ONE IS COMING. Not the government, not big brother, not the system. No one. I was directly involved in recovery from Helene in Erwin, TN. The only entity that got the work done was the people who lived there and groups of volunteers. I can only hope and pray people finally realize the only help we have is the network of friends & family we are blessed with. This is a hard pill to swallow, as so many are dependent on the “system”. This is horrible. When we had the Camp Fire in Paradise California in 2018 we had RV’s and tents for over a year here in Chico. Our neighborhood was full of friends and relatives living in RV’s in their driveways and all through town. We all came together while FEMA drug their feet and kept families living in tents. I’m in western North Carolina myself and FEMA is and has been MIA… what I’ve seen is neighbors helping neighbors, volunteers, and thank God for Samaritans Purse! They have helped my neighbors in need! Lots and lots of people displaced, with our federal government ignoring. So sad! Lots of prayers ❤️

I'm in Avery County and I'm really tired of hearing this because it isn't true. None of this is quick and it won't be. Roads can't be built or electricity restored until trees are removed so that's where that falsehood comes from. I've been taking people to Fema and they are doing what they are supposed to do. The baby freezing to death is not true but a rumor going around that started on Twitter. And I'm disappointed you would share this misinformation because it doesn't help anyone. Thank you girls!! From Edneyville here about 10 mins from Chimney Rock/Lake Lure. We are one of the very fortunate ones as far as structure damage goes but there are soo many people that have lost absolutely everything!!! Fema is no where to be found from the get go. Places that are not in a flood zone (no flood insurance) but flooded are not even receiving the 750.00. All I hear is everybody is getting turned down. We have been turned down for trying to get our one way in one way out road that has been washed . They won't cover private roads. Unfortunately most mountain roads are private. Destruction is everywhere. Thank God for the Canadian linemen that came and restored our power after 14 days without and we were one of the lucky ones !

Broken around ligament and still so dark bruises seem to not want to leave but in his mighty name gonna go ! It’s also got very cold here no heat very ill. Ding blind and disabled is surely making things more difficult . my husband never gets sick please pray he can’t open one of his eyes had a eye patch of mine on his eyes so red draining and he’s in severe pain! We have no idea what happened to his eye . Went to eye dr today said He had abrasions . The doctor had something similar to a contact lens and sac for him to come back next week and said she would check it and she also gave him prescription for some very very costly medication. Please pray we are not able to get it insurance will not cover it. I’m gonna try something tomorrow, please pray he is in bed sick. I’m sitting not feeling well as well. I will keep you girls in your family in prayer. Please continue to pray. Pray God will make a way that I can get my ICN dog my dog this year please please I need it so bad, I keep having independence please I don’t think I can live without God will help me through this. There was a huge, record-setting blizzard in 1949, throughout the midwest. Travelers found themselves at the mercy of strangers, out on the road, stranded. Many of them simply walked up to nearest domicile to seek help and shelter, which (remarkably) they were given. The stranded remained weeks and even months; it was such a hardship and things were so different--supplies were finally airlifted in and dropped. Thank God for the kind of people who would still, even today, welcome these displaced and desperate people to shelter with them (as surely there have to be some).

We lost everything in hurricane Laura in southwest Louisiana in 2020. Thankfully we had some savings and paid upfront for hotel stay for 3 months. FEMA did reimburse us ( we didn't have insurance due to being renters). But the process took about 2 months. Also our Governor Jon Bel Edward did approve several months of food stamps. Red Cross kept asking for more information each time we talked to someone ( so we never received help from them). I know Billy Graham/ Franklin Graham has an outreach that helps during disaster ( Samaritans Purse). It all takes so much time and money upfront and unfortunately some people don't have the financial resources ( or insurance coverage) to fund it. Praying for yalls community 💚🙏💚

Then right after that, I found out my daddy's house was blown in half by a tornado down in Fla during Hurrican Milton. So I went down there to help clean up and I'm going back down again. Me and my fraternity brothers made our way from Asheville to Charlotte and back, during the first two weeks of October. Many people have donated significant sums, but you have to think about the total devastation these places experienced. Places were completely wiped out, all infrastructure gone, roads wiped away, bridges, power poles, everything torn down, homes flattened in most areas, and the ones that weren't were filled with water to the ceilings. Then, when that receded, there was mud and mold on everything.

Thankyou for this I’m in Buncombe county personally everyone in my family was safe but everyone was affected. The media is lying there is so much detestation and so many missing and even deceased. A lot of people couldn’t get FEMA assistance money and a lot of insurance companies won’t help either. Private citizens have been so wonderful.

I hope your husband gets well soon. How difficult that they won't let you join him for support, and.adding observations that might be important. I took a friend to the ER a couple of times , and she downplayed everything that was in truth very debilitating. I was able to provide some necessary information.

This is a complete disgrace! These families are in an emergency situation. County codes need to provide emergency leniency to help provide temporary living situations. Sleeping in tents during cold winter weather is unacceptable! My prayers are with these folks. God is good and He will provide. thank you for educating us on this situation. God bless you.

There are areas in our state that cannot “open burn” but during disasters they are allowed to. In the same way it would seem there would be temporary holds on some of the codes in order to give folks a break and some creature comforts at the least.
